HEADstrong Launches Rivalry Series Campaign To Raise National Awareness During April

Holmes, PA – The HEADstrong Foundation™ (HF) is proud to announce the National Rivalry Series, a fundraising campaign that any team, at any level of the game, can adopt into their upcoming season.  During the month of April, teams from across the country are encouraged to select a game to observe as a HEADstrong Game, helping to raise blood cancer awareness and funds to benefit the quality of life services offered by the Foundation.

While this is a national campaign the event series will kick-off on Saturday, April 5, 2014 as HF presents the 4th Annual Rivalry Games at the beautiful Avon Grove High School Athletic Complex located in West Grove, PA.  The event will showcase youth, high school varsity and junior varsity games on three turf fields.  The Rivalry Games is a day centered on philanthropy, with each participating team involved in assisting the HF mission by fundraising for the cause and helping to spread awareness in their respected schools and communities.

New York, Minnesota, Illinois, Florida, Texas and Pennsylvania are just a few of the states where teams have begun to register games.  Getting involved is very easy and teams are encouraged to inquire with HF’s Community Affairs and Strategic Outreach Coordinator, Jessica Kozel, via email [email protected].

5 Easy Steps to Register Your Game

1) Identify your scheduled game during the month of April

2) Connect and gain the support of your opposing coach

3) Email your commitment to Jessica Kozel at [email protected]

4) Once confirmed, identify your method of fundraising and get underway

5) Begin promoting and spreading the word through local businesses, alumni, media outlets and students

“With youth, high school and college lacrosse all being played during the same time, April is truly the heart of lacrosse season.  We wanted to provide an opportunity for teams from around the country to give heightened meaning to their season and engage them in a community-based initiative to raise awareness and visibility of our cause.  Cancer knows no season and it is crucial to have events and campaigns throughout the year to raise funds and make a difference.  HEADstrong has humbly emerged as a nationally recognized and supported non-profit organization and we are on the front lines everyday working with patients and families whose lives have been turned upside down as the result of a diagnosis.  One of the hallmarks of this new campaign is that the funds raised will be earmarked to support cancer patients and families in the specific regions in which they are raised, thus giving programs the chance to make a localized impact.” Michael Colleluori, HF Vice President and Nick’s Brother.

Proceeds from the National Rivalry Series will support the programs and services provided by the HEADstrong Foundation to improve the quality of life for those affected by blood cancers specifically the Nicholas E. Colleluori Patient Financial Assistance Grant and expansion of Nick’s House™.

“We are challenging teams from across the country to face-off against blood cancers this season.  We are striving to change the game for cancer patients and their families throughout the country.  Over the years we have learned to make fundraising as simplistic as possible for our supporters and this campaign is an easy way to give further meaning to your lacrosse season.  Whether outfitting your team in laces or hosting a lime out, we are dedicated to working directly with coaches and program directors to ensure a successful fundraising event.”  Cheryl Colleluori, HEADstrong President and Nick’s Mom

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
