IMG Lacrosse Academy to host 2012 Sunshine Cup, June 23-24

Bradenton, Fla. (April 4, 2012) – On the heels of announcing the start of a full-time boarding program for lacrosse, the IMG Lacrosse Academy has announced it will host the 2012 Sunshine Cup, June 23-24, on the campus of IMG Academies. This annual event, which is in its sixth year, is part of the Florida United Lacrosse Cup (FULC) series and is expected to feature more than 60 teams from around the state and throughout the Southeast region of the country. Competitive divisions from U-11 through U-19 will be hosted at the event.

“I’m very excited that the Florida United Lacrosse Cup series directors have agreed to collaborate with IMG Academies to bring this high-profile event and so many great young lacrosse players to our campus,” said IMG Lacrosse Academy Director Bill Shatz. “FULC has a tremendous national reputation for sanctioning and operating safe, highly-competitive and well-organized lacrosse tournaments, so it’s a perfect fit for us here at IMG.”

The tournament will follow a single-elimination championship format. Registration will remain open until 12 p.m. on June 10.
