Ireland Lacrosse, ‘Be Our Hero’ Campaign

We’ve received an email from the Ireland Lacrosse team who is in need of our support. The team is currently raising money for team travel and accommodations to the FIL World Lacrosse Championships in Denver during the month of July. The thing that makes the World Championships amazing is the participation and inclusion of differing countries. Ireland is generating funds via shirt sales. The shirts are part of their Be Our Hero Campaign, which includes a badass shooting shirt. Please read the team’s message below and consider contributing.

I am a member of the Irish National Lacrosse Team and we are currently in preparation for the World Lacrosse Championships which are taking place this July in Denver, USA.

To give you a little bit of background, we are coming off the back of a Silver Medal finish at the European Championships in 2012 (sadly losing out to England in the final). We are hoping to raise awareness and funds ahead of our participation in the World Cup which takes place in Denver this July.

As the Ireland Lacrosse team is entirely player funded, we are looking at a cost of approximately €5,000 per player between the World Cup tournament in Denver and a Training Camp in NYC over the course of Paddy’s weekend (the team will be marching in the NYC Paddy’s Day Parade) where we will play some warm-up games against Israel and a local NY Club.

We have created a fundraising/promotional campaign called ‘Be Our Hero’. One of the activations of this campaign is the selling of super hero themed Ireland Lacrosse t-shirts.

Any help that we can get to raise awareness of the existence of lacrosse in Ireland and of our participation in the World Cup this July would be hugely appreciated. Please visit Ireland Lacrosse to learn more.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.

No shit? Different countries in the world championship(s). Stop abusing high school kids as writers already.

And as for you Irish laxers, you should talk to the IRA about fundraising in the US, or just stick to hurling, which, as a former All-America laxer, seems much cooler as a native sport.

Ireland Lacrosse: I’m happy to purchase a shirt or two in support of my ancestor’s native land (O’Driscoll, County Cork). I see that the shipping charge is $5 EUR. Does that amount include shipping to the US?
