Is this Hit Legal or Illegal?

Here’s another big hit in MCLA lacrosse action from the guys at LaxKings. You tell us, was this hit during the Simon Fraser vs. Oregon game legal or illegal?

Sick trip attempt post hit…

The hit definitely doesn’t even compare to the goalie hit or “Jimmy Bitter Takes Baseball Swing to the Groin,” but every hit these days stirs up controversy. The only thing I would call here is a crosscheck.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.

Legal, as you can see in slow motion the player recieves the ball and turns forward to face the on coming hit, then attempts to turn his body away, contact was established with the shoulder from the delivering player and his hands were kept low throughout the whole check (the head of the stick was high but not where contact was made). The two calls that I could understand are crosscheck because his hands are not completely closed, but conctact was with shoulder not stick, and the new rule in lower leagues, targeting a defensless player. The one catching did not have a chance to land his feet on the ground to move before he was hit. But again that is only something that would be called in younger leagues to protect the younger kids.

Legal hit. Initiates contact with the shoulder from the side, contacting the player’s body first, then extends his arms out. No flag, good no call by the ref on the ball.

i didn’t even bother to watch the video bc of the ads, but since it was a hit on a lacrosse field I’m assuming the field was littered with laundry

That was textbook! Shoulder to shoulder and followed through with the hands close together. Couldn’t have been much cleaner

apparently you missed out reading the rule book…could have called a number of calls but the nicest one would have been to call a push and give the ball to oregon

    Cross check. Possibly from behind.
