Joel White Joins The Fight, Named 2014 HEADstrong Player Spokesman


Holmes, PA – The HEADstrong Foundation™ is proud to announce the naming of MLL/NLL standout Joel White as the organizations Player Spokesman for 2014.  Annually, HEADstrong recognizes a professional lacrosse player who demonstrates exemplary leadership and is committed to service in the community, who is using their professional stature to promote and advocate for the cause.

White a current member of both the Rochester Rattlers and Philadelphia Wings will have an active role in helping to promote the organization both on and off the playing field in 2014.  White joins a select group of athletes who have previously held this honor including: Paul Rabil, Ken Clausen, Kevin Buchanan, CJ Costabile and Bill McGlone.

White is currently a member of Brine’s Team Elite and plans to assist them in promoting HEADstrong’s equipment collection offered at retailers across the country.  HEADstrong plans to also incorporate White into their 2014 advertising campaign entitled, Our Impact Begins With You.  Additionally, White will make appearances at selected HEADstrong events and service dates during the year.

Recently, White was involved with the Florida Coaches Clinic in Orlando, Florida presented by LB3 Lacrosse, in which HEADstrong was a charitable benefactor.  While always having an interest in HF™ it was there that White had the chance to spend time with members of the Colleluori family and gained a better appreciation for the HF™ mission, vision and footprint in the cancer community. After hearing Director of Development and Nick’s Brother, Pat Colleluori speak at the event, White felt inspired to get more involved.

“I was formally introduced to Joel through Liam Banks and after meeting with him in Florida, I knew he was the right player for the role.  Joel has always led by example on the playing, unselfishly helping to make everyone around him better.  His relentlessness on the field is matched by positive attitude, genuine and compassionate personality off the field.  Joel possessed a the maturity and true desire to make a difference in the community through his status within in the game.  We are really excited to have him involved with our fight.”

Joel White had a distinguished collegiate career for the Syracuse University, a three time All-American and a two time National Champion with the powerhouse Orange Men’s Lacrosse Team.  He also became the first defensive specialist to win the Lt. Donald C. MacLaughlin, Jr. award as the nation’s top midfielder.

He was a first team USILA All-American and Tewaaraton Trophy finalist.  White became the first defensive specialist to win the Lt. Donald C. MacLaughlin, Jr. award as the nation’s top midfielder.  White won two national championships with the Orange.  He finished his career at Syracuse with 18 goals and 10 assists for 28 points while collecting 283 ground balls.  In 2009, Joel White was a member of a gold medal winning Team USA at the International Lacrosse Federation U19 World Championships.  White currently plays for the Philadelphia Wings in the NLL, the Rochester Rattlers in the MLL and is regarded as one of the best longs stick midfielders in the world.
