Lacrosse in the Raw, Red Bull Baggataway

A couple of weekends ago, I played in the Red Bull Baggataway Lacrosse Tournament and the hype truly lived up to its name. No pads, no mercy, just lacrosse at its roots. A game where it was 11-on-11 and almost anything goes brought the 21st century lacrosse players back to its origin and created a fast pace game that was meant for the highlight reel.

Speed, endurance, strength, and some guts all played a large part in these games. Paul Rabil, a MLL All-Star and Boston Cannons midfielder, helped bring this tournament to the forefront, which preluded the All-Star game on Saturday. Red Bull and Lax.com helped showcase a one of a kind tournament that will not soon be forgotten and will hopefully continue to grow in the years to come.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
