Homewood, CA. March 6, 2012 — West Shore Technologies, Inc. today announced a partnership with Jake Reed and Nike Blue Chip Rising senior, junior, and sophomore lacrosse events in June 2012 and the new Rising freshman event in July 2012.
The partnership will enable college coaches using SportsBoardTM Lacrosse Scout, West Shore’s patent-pending iPad scouting and assessment application, to obtain player profile data that will then be pre-loaded in their iPads. Lacrosse Scout replaces the bulky printed player packets and gives coaches the ability to enter ratings and textnotes, record voicememos, and take photos/footage for any player at these events on their iPads.
“Our Blue Chip events are the highest-quality events where the most talented high school athletes showcase their skills,” Reed said. “With Lacrosse Scout, we now automate our events and enable coaches attending our events to assess our talent digitally.”
Gregg Jacobs, West Shore’s founder and CEO, suggests that the new partnership simplifies the recruiting process for college lacrosse coaches.
“By partnering with Jake Reed and Nike Blue Chip, we are fully automating college coaches’ ability to assess talent, electronically sharing those assessments with other coaches on their staff, and making better, data-driven recruiting decisions,” Jacobs said. “And now that we are interfacing with recruiting and compliance systems like Front Rush and others, we are eliminating all of the data entry time coaches spend after attending events like Nike Blue Chip.”
Early adopters of Lacrosse Scout include US Naval Academy, Christopher Newport University, University of Pennsylvania, Gordon College and Marymount University, as well as 7 collegiate programs in women’s lacrosse.
The US Naval Academy started using Lacrosse Scout at Adrenaline Challenge in January 2012 and already sees the power of digital information. “Lacrosse Scout provides a much simpler and more efficient way to find prospects and take notes compared to using binders,” said Rick Sowell, Navy’s coach. “We can then sync our ratings and comments on the server and all coaches can share and review the data, which makes our analysis almost real-time rather than waiting for days to meet or enter data into a spreadsheet or database. Lacrosse Scout brings powerful automation that we’ve never seen before.”
Christopher Newport coach Todd Boward said “the partnership between Blue Chip and West Shore will be a huge time-saver for me.”
He added: “In putting ratings and evaluations on a touch screen is much quicker than writing out evaluations on paper and now I won’t have those eight-hour days as a data entry clerk. I am outfitting myself and my two assistants with iPads and Lacrosse Scout and am really looking forward to using it this summer.”
SportsBoard Scout is also available for Women’s Lacrosse, Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Volleyball, Field Hockey, and Rugby. For more information about West Shore Technologies, visit www.sportsboard-win.com.
