Lafayette Men’s Lacrosse Announces 2013-14 Team Captains

EASTON, Pa.- Seniors Brendan Gover (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater Raritan), Matt Evans (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead), Jake Mann (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) and Mike Galione (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) have been named captains of the 2013-14 Lafayette men’s lacrosse team, head coach Jim Rogalski announced. The group looks to lead the Leopards in Rogalski’s second season on College Hill.

“I am pleased to announce Brendan, Matt, Jake, and Mike as our captains for our 2013-2014 campaign. These young men bring an excitement and work ethic on a daily basis that is contagious,” Rogalski said. “Their attention to detail and desire to succeed has taken the expectations of this program to another level in a short period of time. My staff and I look forward to their continued leadership as we tackle the adversity and challenges of a tough Patriot League schedule.”

Gover will serve as a captain for the second straight season. The LSM appeared in 13 games last season, and picked up 24 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers.

A Marblehead, Mass. native, Evans started all 13 games for the Leopards on defense last season. The senior was second on the team in ground balls with 43 and had an assist against Marist.

Mann made nine appearances and four starts as a junior last season. The Illinois native tallied seven goals including two multi-goal games against Georgetown and Stony Brook.

Galione made six starts last season in 12 contests. The midfielder scored a goal and dished out three assists, including a pair of helpers against Georgetown. The Connecticut native also picked up five ground balls and caused three turnovers.

The Leopards will take part in the 7th Annual Nicholas Colleluori Fall Men’s Classic in Folsom, Pa. on October 5-6.
