Lafayette Men’s Lacrosse Names Captains for 2013 Season

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette men’s lacrosse’s first-year head coach Jim Rogalski has named senior Anthony Zawadzki and junior Brendan Gover as captains for the 2013 squad.

“I am excited to announce Anthony and Brendan as our captains for the 2013 campaign,” Rogalski said. “Both are great leaders on and off the field, as they embody the commitment, sacrifice and work ethic that are the foundations of Lafayette Lacrosse. I know they will make the seniors, the team, the coaching staff and the Lafayette Lacrosse Family proud.”

Zawadzki, a Kings Park, N.Y. native, collected 22 ground balls in seven games played in the midfield last season for the Maroon and White. He was mainly used as a faceoff man, winning 40-of-89 faceoffs for a .449 percentage.

Gover played in all 13 games as a LSM for Lafayette in 2012, recording one goal and 22 ground balls. Hailing from Bridgewater, N.J., he was fourth on the team in caused turnovers with 12. Both captains were selected to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll at the conclusion of the 2012 campaign.

The 2013 season gets underway on Feb. 16 as the Leopards travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the Georgetown Hoyas at noon.
