Lars Tiffany to Speak at US Lacrosse Convention

BALTIMORE — US Lacrosse has named Brown University men’s lacrosse head coach Lars Tiffany a speaker at the US Lacrosse National Convention, presented by Champion. Tiffany will join roughly 200 of the sport’s best coaches and officials as presenters at the largest professional development event in the world for lacrosse coaches, officials and administrators Jan. 10-12, 2014, in Philadelphia.

Tiffany will host “Building Better Lacrosse Players” for boys’ lacrosse coaches at 10:15 a.m. Jan. 12 in the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

“Lars Tiffany has built Brown into one of college lacrosse’s best teams and leads a program whose players achieve both academically and athletically,” said Beth Porreca, director of special events at US Lacrosse. “We’re thrilled he will speak at our convention to help boys’ lacrosse coaches learn how to develop their own athletes on and off the field.”

“It is an honor to speak at the US Lacrosse National Convention and address the growing community of scholastic and youth lacrosse coaches,” Tiffany said. “I’m looking forward to both sharing what I’ve learned as a native of LaFayette, N.Y., and as a collegiate lacrosse coach, as well as forming even stronger relationships with the coaches who are charged with developing young people.”

Tiffany, a 1990 graduate of Brown and two-time team captain as a defenseman, will enter his eighth season at his alma mater in 2014. He has led the Bears to Ivy League championships in 2008 and 2010 and a berth in the 2009 NCAA tournament, in addition to regular appearances in Top 20 rankings. He returned to his alma mater in 2006 and coached the Bears to a 7-7 season in 2007 after they went winless in Ivy League play. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Stony Brook University, where he led the Seawolves to an 18-13 overall record in 2005-06. Tiffany has previously served as an assistant coach at Penn State University, Dartmouth College, Washington and Lee University, and Le Moyne College.

Lacrosse coaches, officials and administrators can purchase convention tickets online at uslacrosse.org/convention for just $115 before Nov. 30 (a savings of $45 vs. walk-up pricing).
