Lax Stache Madness Grows Past $100,000 In Week 5

Holmes, PA – In the weeks leading up to his untimely passing HEADstrong founder Nick Colleluori did something that he had never done before, he grew a mustache.  After losing his hair multiple times from chemotherapy, he decided that if his hair wouldn’t grow then he would grow facial hair in protest of cancer he was battling.  This Friday, November 28th will mark the 8th anniversary of his untimely passing to non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  His legacy lives on through the tireless efforts of the HEADstrong Foundation™.

We start Week 5 out with an inspirational video from Ken Clausen in remembrance of HF™ founder Nick Colleluori.  We invite you to view:  http://youtu.be/HlKsvXVEfdA.

Through the tireless efforts of lacrosse players and fundraising teams throughout the country Lax Stache Madness has officially grown past the $100,000 fundraising mark.  With the Thanksgiving holiday less than 4 days away and Growers traveling home to share their efforts with family and loved ones, this week promises to be one of the most competitive and exciting weeks yet.   There are still 12 days left in to fundraise and the competition is still growing like never before.  This past weekend Harrisburg and Bergey’s Lacrosse joined forces to host the 1st Lax Stache Shootout in Harrisburg, PA.  The Stache themed box lacrosse game was a driving force that helped propel Lax Stache Madness past the $100,000 mark.

In addition to fundraising for the cause, over the past 2 weeks fundraising teams have been engaged in a heated competition called The Stache-Off, pairing teams against one another to see who will have the largest incremental gain over a period of time.  This past week, the 52 teams were matched up against an opponent and winners (listed below) will advance to Round 2 where they will meet new opponents for a chance to be named LMM Most Relentless Team.

“On behalf of Lacrosse Mustache Madness, the HEADstrong Foundation and those affected by cancer, especially those inpatient this holiday, we wish to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the growers, fundraising teams, donors, sponsors and everyone who has contributed to making LMM an overwhelming success.  We are truly thankful for everyone’s continued support.  We could not think of a more fitting tribute to HF founder Nick Colleluori then to break the $110,000 fundraising goal on what will be the 8th anniversary of his untimely passing.  Happy Thanksgiving and keep growing!” – Ken Clausen, LMM Founder

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
