Major League Lacrosse Partners with RipNet Performance Technology

Boston, MA (Monday, January 7, 2013) – Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced today a partnership with the player development tool and social network RipNet to develop the skills of the next generation of MLL players and facilitate and encourage the growth of the game of lacrosse.

“We’re very excited to partner with RipNet to cultivate the next generation of lacrosse players,” says Major League Commissioner, David Gross. “We love how RipNet has managed to combine the best characteristics of Nike+, Facebook, ESPN and Twitter to do great things for lacrosse and lacrosse players.”

With RipNet on their mobile devices, MLL, collegiate, high school and youth players have a unique set of innovative tools to improve their play on the field and stay connected with all things lacrosse. MLL fans will be able to follow their favorite MLL players, track their success through Leaderboards and Players of the Week, participate in MLL forums, and get game stats and scores. RipNet’s player development tools combine an innovative video platform with on-field performance analytics that visualize a player’s strengths, weaknesses and improvement opportunities.

“I like that it clearly shows where you have had your most success when shooting, starting from where on the field you’re shooting to where you put the ball in the net,” says Ned Crotty, Rochester Rattlers attackman and 2010 MLL Rookie of the Year, one of a number of current MLL players currently using RipNet themselves. “As an offensive player, you want to be a threat from anywhere on the field, but there are naturally going to be certain places we are more comfortable from and RipNet will help you find it.”

“We’re delighted to be able to provide today’s and tomorrow’s stars an exciting new way to improve their game and share it with the community,” says Dudley Fitzpatrick, CEO of RipNet.”MLL players are the greatest in the world. We’re honored they’ve chosen us to join their team.”

RipNet’s player development app and social network is available for free at www.rip.net, iTunes and Google play.

For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
