Marist Men’s Lacrosse Adds 12 To Class Of 2017


POUGHKEPSIE, N.Y. – Marist men’s lacrosse head coach Keegan Wilkinson has announced that 12 student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Marist class of 2017. The 12 will join the Red Foxes for practice starting in the fall of 2013.

Blake Boudreau – 5-10/175 – Midfield – Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin High School
Boudreau will bring his exceptional 78% face-off winning percentage to Marist next season. As a junior, he also had seven goals and nine assists. He has helped lead Bishop Guertin to three consecutive Division I State Championships and was named a 2012 U.S. Lacrosse All-American as well as to the Coaches’ Poll All-State Team. Boudreau also played football for four seasons, including serving as captain his senior year, and has already been named a captain for the 2013 lacrosse season. His father played football at Plymouth State University and his grandfather played baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers organization.

Conor Brand – 6-0/200 – Defense – Montclair, NJ/Montclair High School
Brand will join the Red Foxes next season after completing a stellar career at Montclair High Schoo. Last season, Brand collected 28 ground balls and added four goals and two assists. Twice he attended the Blue Chip 225 Camp and was selected to the all-star team both times. Brand also played ice hockey at Montclair and was inducted into the National Honor Society last year.

Frankie Brier – 6-3/170 – Defense – Smithtown, NY/Smithtown High School West
Brier committed to Marist after completing a junior season in which he collected 35 ground balls and contributed offensively with two goals and four assists. He also played football for the past three seasons, serving as the team’s captain in his senior campaign, and was awarded Smithtown West’s business achievement award.

Brian Corrigan – 5-11/180 – Goalie – East Quogue State, NY/Westhampton Beach High School
As a junior, Corrigan recorded 145 saves while only allowing 54 goals for a .729 save percentage. Each of the past two seasons he has been selected to the All-Country Lacrosse Team and was named a team captain for his upcoming senior season. Corrigan also played four years of basketball and football, winning state championships in all three sports, and is an honor roll student. His father Thomas played basketball at Queens College.

Clayton Frank – 6-0/200 – Midfielder – Vancouver, Wash./Columbia River High School (Kingsway Lacrosse Club)
Frank has started the past four years for the Kingsway Lacrosse Club, including serving as captain for the past three. Last season, Frank registered 62 points on 38 goals and 24 assists while also scooping up 77 ground balls. He was named an All-State midfielder in 2011 and 2012 and led Kingsway to the the club’s first state semifinals appearance in 2012. Frank was also a three-year starter at quarterback for the Columbia River football team, serving as team captain for the past three seasons, and was named the Greater St. Helens League Offensive Player of the Year in 2012. Academically, Frank has been named to the honor roll at Columbia River all four years.

Casey Hickey – 5-11/155 – Midfield – East Quogue, NY/Westhampton Beach High School
Last season the midfielder recorded 35 goals and led the team with 24 assists and 59 points. He was named Westhampton Beach’s Offensive MVP and was selected to the All-Division Team. Hickey scored the game winning overtime goal in the Nassau vs. Suffolk rising senior game. Academically, Hickey is an honor roll student and his father also played collegiate lacrosse.

James Murphy – 5-10/160 – Midfield – Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham High School
Murphy comes to Marist following a stellar career at Hatboro-Horsham High School, the alma mater of former Red Fox Edward Coombs. As a junior, Murphy was his team’s leading scorer with 45 goals and 11 assists for a total of 56 points and was named Offensive MVP. The midfielder finished his junior year by leading his team to the Suburban One Continental Championship. He was selected to the 2012 All-Intelligence First Team and the 2012 Suburban One Continental Conference First Team. This past summer, Murphy was named an Under Armour Underclassmae All-American and played for Team Philadelphia which was crowned the 2012 Under Armour Champions.

Nick Nye – 5-11/170 – LSM – Marcellus, NY/Marcellus High School
Nye has been a member of Marcellus’ varsity team since his freshmen year. Last season he had six goals and three assists while collecting 143 ground balls. He was awarded by being selected to the All-Central New York Team by Syracuse.com and played in the Nike Upstate Rising Junior and Senior All-Star Games. Nye also played football for four seasons, serving as a team captain his senior year, and his brother plays lacrosse at SUNY-Cortland.

Connor O’Neill – 6-1/195 – Midfield – Sayville, NY/Sayville High School
Last season, O’Neill had 36 goals and 12 assists for 48 total points, leading Sayville to the 2012 Suffolk County Championship and finished the season ranked #14 in the Tri State Area. He also played football for four seasons and was inducted into National Honor Society as a junior. O’Neill’s father played basketball at St. Joseph’s College in New York.

J.D. Recor – 5-8/160 – Attack – Lancaster, NY/Bishop Timon St. Jude
Recor had an exceptional junior season leading Bishop Timon St. Jude with 72 goals and 65 assists for a total of 137 points. He will join the Red Foxes next year after leading his team to the 2012 NYS CHSAA class AA state champions. Recor was named to the Second Team All-WNY in 2011-2012 as well as the Second Team All-League in 2010. He is an honor roll student and his father was a three time All-American wrestler at SUNY-Brockport.

Dominic Sloma – 5-10/160 – Defense – Nikayuna, NY/Nikayuna High School
Sloma collected 15 ground balls and added two assists last season as a junior. He started on the backline for the Nikayuna team that reached the New York state semifinals. He was selected to the Under Armour Underclassmen All-American Upstate Team this past summer.

John Vigh – 6-0/215 – Attack – Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East High School
Vigh has led Sachem East in scoring in each of the past two season, registering 29 goals and 30 assists this past spring. For his career, Vigh has 61 goals and 50 assists. A team captain this past spring, he was also to the 2012 All-Division Team. Along with lacrosse, Vigh also was a four-year member of the wrestling and football teams, serving as the football team captain this fall. Academically, he was a Scholar Athlete from 2010-2012.

“Our staff could not be more excited to welcome the newest members of the Marist lacrosse program,” Wilkinson said. “This accomplished group of young men already possess a strong sense of loyalty towards Marist and Marist lacrosse. Together with our returning players they will strive to take our program to new heights. This group of young men has been successful in the classroom and on the field, many of them in multiple sports. My assistants, Frank Abruzzini and Dan Lang, and I, were committed to putting together a recruiting class that would be widely recognized and regarded as a stellar addition to Marist College, and we are confident that we have succeeded.”
