Marquette Freshman Will Play for Team Canada at 2012 World Championship

MILWAUKEE – Freshman Tyler Gilligan of the Marquette University men’s lacrosse team has been named to the U-19 Canadian National Lacrosse Team. Gilligan is one of 24 players who will represent Canada at the 2012 U19 Men’s World Championship in Turku, Finland. The tournament will begin July 12 and run through July 21.

The Whitby, Ontario, native was chosen after attending a selection camp on Nov. 25-27 in Oshawa, Ontario. A total of 50 players were invited to try out for the national team.

The U-19 Men’s World Championship is held every four years and the United States has captured six-straight titles, including a 19-12 victory over Team Canada in 2008.
