Massachusetts High School Lacrosse Fight

In late May, a fight occurred during a lacrosse game between Taconic High School and Hoosac High School. Barstool Sports describes the brawl as a matchup between two Western Massachusetts “redneck” schools. I have no idea where these schools are, but I’m guessing they know more about New England zipcodes than the majority of Tom Brady haters. Watch the video and let us know how it makes you feel.

Upon further research, I still have no idea what took place. Possible missed offsides call? Click here to scroll for more fights.

I play for Hoosac.. We aren’t a red neck school and neither is the other school. Don’t talk shit about place you know nothing about just because you want people to think you’re funny. We are far from redneck. I wasnt in the fight because it was really stupid. I was more worried about trying to win us the game. Fuck all of you shit talkers that think you’re tough talking shit about our lacrosse program and western mass because I doubt where you’re from is amazing. Thank you:)

Never mind the embarrassing parents, never mind how bad these kids looks, or how fat and unathletic they are… let’s talk about how bad Massachusetts is at fighting… This is the 2nd fight coming out of Mass I’ve seen… Unimpressive.

Not what Lacrosse is about… Saddens me…. Obviously they’ve not been taught to respect a game that’s very respectable… So pleased that my sons high school coach instilled all the right ethics bout the game… Which led to two consecutive State Championships… The first , being complete underdogs… If u have coaches like ours it’s truly a blessing… He made young men into gentlemen.. Thx coach mike 😉

Nothing is worse then parents running on the field. But Sean is right, refs aren’t supposed to jump right in.

go like 10 seconds in and watch as the Ref does NOTHING to break it up, rather just watches the players get thrown on the ground – gotta love western mass

    • Sean Grogan on June 15, 2012 at 4:26 pm

That is what the ref is supposed to do.

Say, for example, just two guys are going at it and I try to break it up,

-I stand in the middle, I’m going to get clocked.

-I decide to grab one player and pull him away, I’m either going to get clocked by the player i’m pulling away or I am going to make him defenseless against the opposing player (which If i was a coach I’d be upset)

the best thing to do is step back and start writing numbers.  I don’t know NFHS rules, but IFL rules says that a 3rd man in must be expelled.  I can’t tell who a third man is if I’m breaking it up.

plus a ref joining a brawl becomes a liability.  and trust me, there is no easy way to learn how to handle a fight as a ref.
