Long Island City, NY – January 26, 2011 – Maverik Lacrosse today announced the creation of its Top Rank Lacrosse tournament (www.topranklacrosse.com) to determine which youth town programs will have the honor of calling themselves “Top Rank.” The “Top Rank” tournament will include a “Top Rank” division and a division for newer teams that just want to compete and be part of a premier spring lacrosse experience. Teams from the New York Tri-state area and also from outside the metropolitan area are encouraged to attend and test themselves against some of the most established youth town programs in the country. The New York Tri-State area has long been identified as a breeding ground for the nation’s elite lacrosse players and teams. The “Top Rank” tournament will look to settle the debate with two one-day playoff/bracket style tournaments (a minimum of 3 games) for a maximum of 12 teams per age group. The 7th and 8th grade teams will do battle on Sunday May 1st and the 3rd thru 6th grade teams will face off on Saturday, May 14th at the Green Vale School in Old Brookville, NY.
“The first few weekends of May are traditionally the center of most youth town programs seasons,” said Paul Carcaterra, Syracuse All-American and ESPN lacrosse expert. “Most of the teams competing will be playing their best lacrosse in early May. It will be really exciting to bring the best youth programs together at once. The level of competition will be outstanding and a fun event for all the teams involved.”
The Top Rank Lacrosse tournament will take place on six beautifully manicured grass fields at the centrally located Green Vale School in Old Brookville, NY. The Green Vale School is located on Long Island (Nassau County/North Shore) and is less than an hours drive (24 miles from NYC) from either Westchester County, CT, and most Northern New Jersey locations.
