Maverik National Recruiting Spotlight Takes Place Next Week

Maverik Lacrosse’s “National Recruiting Spotlight” event for rising sophomores and juniors in high school will take place next week at Western Connecticut State University. From Maverik:

Long Island City, NY – July 7, 2009 – The second annual Maverik Showtime Lacrosse – “National Recruiting Spotlight” (www.showtimelax.com), is schedule to start on July 13th and run through July 16th at the campus of Western Connecticut State University, in Danbury (Fairfield County), CT.

This invitation only event brings together 160 of the nation’s fastest rising sophomore and junior lacrosse players from high schools across the country. Players will be individually assessed by coaches from top Division I, II and III programs (i.e. Syracuse, Johns Hopkins, Princeton University, Brown University, Albany University, North Carolina and the University ofVirginia). Each day will be broken down into three sessions including position specific skill drills and at least two formatted games for evaluation purposes.

“The competition to land a scholarship at an elite college level program is something every lacrosse player dreams about,” said John Gagliardi, President of Maverik Lacrosse. “We feel that we are giving players who might have gone unnoticed the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of some of the nations premier college and university coaches. Plus, it is not very often high school players get the opportunity to be the first receive and use a new line of equipment before the colleges or the pros.”

All of the invited players will receive Maverik DNA shirts, shorts, socks and have the rare opportunity to be the first to use Maverik’s new for 2010 Vision head and Maybach gloves, both available starting in October of 2009.

The Maverik Showtime Lacrosse — “National Recruiting Spotlight” is the brain child of Joe Ceglia, Mike Springer and CBS Sports color commentator Paul Carcaterra, who all achieved All-American and National Championship careers at Syracuse University, and are immersed in lacrosse as coaches at the high school and collegiate levels, are nationally recognized camp directors, broadcasters and are professional lacrosse players.
