Maverik University Rollback Dodge with Jovan Miller

Maverik Lacrosse today released “Roll Dodge” the latest instructional video in the Maverik University video series starring Charlotte Hounds midfielder, two-time National Champion and former All-American midfielder at Syracuse University, Jovan Miller.

In Maverik’s latest video, Jovan shows midfielders how to use a roll dodge to create time and space to shoot or move the ball to counter a defensive slide.

“Roll Dodge” is a valuable video for any midfielder dodging from the top of the box, looking to create time and room for their hands. “As defenders continue to get bigger, faster and stronger, it becomes increasingly more important for midfielders and attackers to have a variety of moves in their repertoire,” said Miller. “The roll dodge in particular, is a move you can use all over the field, not just around the goal. Using multiple dodges makes you less predictable and much more of a threat to the defense.”

A native of Syracuse, NY, Miller was as highly touted Division 1 Football recruit, but gained the attention of several D1 lacrosse programs after playing in the Empire State Games. While at Syracuse, the 6 foot, 200 pound midfielder won two NCAA National Championships with the Orangeman scoring 35 goals and recording 29 assists. Miller was drafted 8th overall by the Rochester Rattlers in the 2011 Major League Lacrosse draft and recorded four goals and four assists in his rookie season.

“Jovan’s positive attitude, contagious personality and passion for teaching lacrosse make him someone you want to be around,” said John Gagliardi, President and founder of Maverik Lacrosse. “He has done a tremendous job representing Maverik in Dallas and is quickly becoming a fixture in the lacrosse community. We are proud to have him as a member of our team.”
