Men’s Lax Adds 15 to Class of 2019 Incoming group looks to continue Leopards’ resurgence

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette men’s lacrosse head coach Jim Rogalski announced 15 additions to his program on Wednesday morning as part of the Lafayette class of 2019. The group hails from eight different states including three from Illinois and one each from Minnesota and Georgia.

“We are very excited to announce this year’s recruiting class,” Rogalski said. “I want to thank my assistants, Matt Musci and Ed Williams, for all of their hard work with this class. This group of hard-working, high-character young men are very talented in the classroom, as well as on the field. I know they will represent the college, our alums and the Lafayette Lacrosse family with strong values and a commitment to excellence.”

Six midfielders, five defenders, three attackers and a goalie round out the group. More information on each of the new Leopards is available below.

John Anastos (5-9, 180 | Goalie | New Trier | Winnetka, Ill.): Member of a two-time state champion team…Selected as First-Team All-State in 2015 as well as being named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American…Earned AHEPA 13th District Athlete of the Year honors in 2015…A First-Team All-Conference performer during his junior campaign…Played guitar in the New Trier Jazz Ensemble I and was a honor roll student throughout his high school career.

Sean Andrews (6-3, 185 | Defense | Summit | Summit, N.J.): Earned above a 3.6 GPA during three of his four years at Summit…Received the Kevin Gardner award for lacrosse as a Group 2 First-Team All-State selection in 2015…Named Second-Team All-Fitch-Pitt as a member of the top-ranked defense in New Jersey, giving up just 3.4 goals per game…Three-year varsity letterwinner on a football team that was twice a State Group 2 champion.

Chris Brady (5-9, 158 | Midfield | Conestoga | Chesterbrook, Pa.): Four-year varsity letterwinner and member of PIAA state championship and state runner-up teams in 2012 and 2013, respectively…Honored as an All-Central League Honorable Mention in 2015 and a Second-Team All-Central League member in 2014…Chosen for the All-Lacrosse Magazine All-Star Team after his team was the runner-up at the U15 National Lacrosse Championships in 2012…Summer Fab Forty All-Star at the Philly Showcase Camp in 2012 and 2013, earning MVP status in 2013…Earned a Top 40 Philly Under Armour Underclass tryout after his team were U17 Lake Placid Champions in 2013…Participated in soccer.

Luke Cummings (6-1, 195 | Midfield | Paul D Schreiber | Port Washington, N.Y.): Tallied 44 goals and 20 assists during his senior year, receiving U.S. Lacrosse All-American honorable mention laurels…Played in the Brine All-American Lacrosse National Classic for Team Long Island and represented the U.S. in the Brogden Cup…Also participated in the Nassau vs. Suffolk Long Island Showcase game…Earned Principal’s Honor Roll status during all four years of his high school career.

Connar Dehnert (6-0, 193 | Midfield | White Bear Lake | White Bear Lake, Minn.): Selected as Team MVP for the Minnesota state championship team as well as earning Mr. Lacrosse Minnesota honors…Picked up All-Conference, First-Team All-Section, First-Team All-State and All-American honors during his time at White Bear Lake…Also named to the All-State Tournament team…held a 3.87 GPA throughout his high school career.

Sam Friedman (6-1, 180 | Midfield | Conestoga | Wayne, Pa.): Member of a PIAA state championship team in 2012…Earned All-Central League Honorable Mention in 2015 and All-Main Line Honorable Mention in 2014…Winner of the Principal’s Award for Scholarship and Citizenship.

Josh Hubbard (6-1, 215 | Defense | Calverton School | Owings, Md.): An Academic All-American in 2015 as well as a unanimous All-MILL selection in 2014 and 2015…Earned Maryland Free State Team selections in 2012 and 2013 as well as an All-MILL Second-Team nod in 2013.

Jake Korus (5-10, 185 | Midfield | Avon Old Farms | Westport, Conn.): Member of the Under Armour Underclass All-America New England Team, the Brine National All-American New England Team, the Brine National All-American All-Star Team and the Western New England Prep School Lacrosse Association All-League Team…A three-year varsity letter winner and member of the Founders League championship team in 2014 and 2015 as well as the Western New England championship team in 2015…Participated in the 2013 Under Armour 2015 Uncommitted Game and played at the Project 9 Lacrosse Camp…Graduated from Avon Old Farms with Dean’s List Honors.

Jack Lydon (6-0, 180 | Defense | Evanston Township | Evanston, Ill.): Earned Academic All-American status during his senior season…Spent all four years on the varsity squad with the final two seasons as team captain…Twice named to the All-CSL team and was an All-State selection.

Zack Merle (6-1, 200 | Defense | St. Anthony’s/Deerfield Academy | Westhampton Beach, N.Y.): Won a gold medal with Team USA at the Brogden Cup…Member of two gold-medal winning teams at the Empire State Cup…Also a Brine All-American Champion.

Tyler Sehring (6-2, 185 | Attack | Friends Academy | Oyster Bay, N.Y.): Earned All-County honors during his senior year and All-Conference laurels as a sophomore and junior…All-conference performer in basketball in 2015.

Jeff Sikorsky (5-11, 170 | Defense | St. Anthony’s | East Northport, N.Y.): Earned CHSAA All-League honors and was the John T. Schroeder Foundation Award winner as the lacrosse player with the strongest on and off the field credentials at St. Anthony’s…Named to the Principal’s List and winner of the St. Bonaventure Award with over a 95 percent average.

Michael Sullivan (6-0, 180 | Midfield/Faceoff | Greenwich | Greenwich, Conn.): Earned U.S. Lacrosse All-American honors, as well as First-Team All-FCIAC and First-Team All-State Class L honors in 2015…Was an All-FCIAC Honorable Mention and the Class L State Championship Game MVP in 2014…Participated in the Under Armour Underclass Game with Team New England in 2014.

Conor Walters (5-9, 165 | Attack | Lake Forest | Lake Forest, Ill.): Played four years of varsity lacrosse and leaves Lake Forest with records in career points, career goals, points in a season and goals in a season…Was a two-time All-American and earned Academic All-American status in 2015…Named to the All-State First Team twice and was his team’s Offensive MVP three of his four years.

Trip Wray (5-11, 185 | Attack | Westminster Schools | Atlanta, Ga.): Four-year varsity starter, serving as team captain his final two seasons…Part of two state championship teams in 2013 and 2015…Three-time All-State selection, as well as earning First-Team All-State and U.S. Lacrosse All-American honors in 2015…Four-year member of the honor roll and the National Honor Society.
