Monmouth Men’s Lacrosse Picked Seventh in MAAC Preseaon Poll

Hawks open season on February 17 at home vs. Wagner

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Under second-year head coach Brian Fisher, Monmouth University will enter is sophomore season as a Division I men’s lacrosse member selected seventh in the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches poll, the league announced on Wednesday.

Siena, the defending MAAC Champions, was selected as the top team in MAAC Men’s Lacrosse in 2015, according to the league’s seven head coaches with 46 overall points, while Marist, the 2014 MAAC championship runner-up, was second in the poll with 38 points.

Canisius finished with 33 points for third in the poll, while the University of Detroit Mercy was selected to finish fourth with 30 points. Quinnipiac finished with 27 points to secure the fifth spot, followed by Manhattan (13) and Monmouth (9).

The preseason All-MAAC team consists of unanimous selection Richie Hurley of Siena (Preseason Player of the Year), Detroit’s Shayne Adams and Marist’s Joseph Radin at attack. The midfielders are made up of unanimous selection Tim Edwards of Canisius, Detroit’s Mike Birney and Siena’s Prunty. Marist’s Patrick Eaker, Canisius’ Adam Donner and Detroit’s Paul Bitetti were selected as the defensemen. Detroit’s Jason Weber was unanimously selected as the goalkeeper.

The Hawks, who return 27 letterwinners from last year’s squad, including just five seniors, open their 2015 campaign on February 17 at home verus Wagner at Monmouth Stadium.
