Mountain Hawks lead South to 15-14 win in North-South Game (Video)

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Adam Johnston scored a pair of goals while Cameron Lao-Gosney added one to help lead the South All-Stars past the North,15-14, last Friday at Harvard Stadium. Roman Lao-Gosney also took part while Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese co-coached the South with good friend Shawn Nadelen of Towson. The three players marked a school record as now five Mountain Hawks have participated over the past two seasons.

“It’s truly an honor, a really special experience, to not only coach in a North-South Game and all the tradition that comes along with it, but to coach three Lehigh players,” said Cassese. “They’re a great representation of our program, not only on the field, but in everything that they do. For me, it was very special to have them out here representing the Mountain Hawk family.”

The 71st annual USILA/LaxWorld Division I-II Senior North-South Game featured the nation’s top seniors squaring off. In total, 22 Lehigh players have participated all-time, including five over the past two seasons (Will Scudder and Jonathan Stumpf last year).

Lehigh’s three participants were tied with Bucknell and Penn as the most-represented schools on the South. The Patriot League was well represented on the field, and the sidelines, as Army’s Joe Alberici served as North head coach and Colgate’s Mike Murphy an assistant. In total, 11 Patriot Leaguers played in the game – seven on the South (three from Lehigh, three from Bucknell and one from Navy) and four on the North (three from Army and one from Colgate).

The North jumped out to an early lead on Friday before the South came back with a vengeance. Johnston scored in the second and fourth quarters, and Cameron in the third. Villanova’s Michael Vigilante broke a 14-14 tie in the final minutes to earn MVP honors.
