Notre Dame Lacrosse, The Walls of Arlotta Parts 1-4

Videos are below.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – “Notre Dame Lacrosse: Inside the Walls of Arlotta,” a half-hour video broadcast featuring the Irish men’s lacrosse program, will premier at 3 p.m. EDT Saturday on NBC Sports Network.

The show follows Irish coach Kevin Corrigan and his 2012 Notre Dame squad from a March 10 overtime win at Hofstra through the BIG EAST season-opening win over Rutgers on March 25—including footage of Irish wins over Denver (in three overtimes) and Ohio State. It also features plenty of looks away from the lacrosse field, including a team visit to New York City during its road trip to play at Hofstra.

The special depicts the values of the Notre Dame lacrosse program, as exemplified by the items found on the walls of the Irish team room in Arlotta Stadium:

— An American flag provided by former Irish player and 2003 Irish co-captain Steve Clagett. A 2004 Notre Dame graduate, Clagett is now a U.S. Navy SEAL–and the flag was flown at half-mast following the death of one of the members of his SEAL team.

— A painting by former Irish lacrosse player Revere La Noue titled “Fighting Irish, Pride and Courage.”

From the survivors of the Potato Famine, to the Fighting Irish Brigade of the American Civil War, to the immigrant railroad crews, to priests and soldiers, to farmers and builders, this print tells the story of millions of people who embody the name Fighting Irish. These are the generations of people who built a strong ethic of courage over comfort, and valor over convenience. This print is a tribute to the millions of immigrant Americans who gave spirit to the name Fighting Irish. A 1999 Notre Dame graduate, La Noue played for the Irish from 1996-99.

— A framed jersey of former Irish player and captain Mike Sennett, who died in 2007. Sennett, a 1991 Notre Dame graduate, had been a high school lacrosse coach in St. Louis and had been active in organizing and promoting lacrosse at all levels in the St. Louis area. He posthumously received the Notre Dame Alumni Association’s William D. Reynolds Award in 2008 for his exceptional work with youth as a coach and mentor. His DeSmet High School teams won six Missouri boys’ lacrosse state titles.

— A framed patch given to the current Irish team by the Official Fire Department City of New York (FDNY) during Notre Dame’s March trip for the Hofstra game. Captain Thomas Byrne, brother of current Irish assistant coach Gerry Byrne, is a New York fireman—and the Irish visited his firehouse (Engine 315/Ladder 125) in Queens, N.Y.

The show will be re-aired on NBC Sports Network at 3:30 p.m. April 18 and at 3 p.m. April 20.

The show was produced by 3 Penny Films in conjunction with Fighting Irish Digital Media and the Notre Dame men’s lacrosse program.
