PRO LACROSSE. BLOWOUT CONCERT. ONE TOUR

AUSTIN, Texas – On April 10th, the Live Music Capital of the World will be the backdrop for a new breed of entertainment, combining the fastest growing sport in the country with cutting-edge musical performances by local and national bands.

Bringing together 40 of the world’s best lacrosse players in a thrilling match up of strength and endurance, followed by a blowout concert series, the LXM PRO Tour puts a new spin on America’s oldest sport. Inspired by the X Games and Dew Tour models, LXM hopes to introduce lacrosse and it’s rising stars to mainstream audiences, similar to how the X Games catapulted Shaun White and Tony Hawk into the spotlight.

The all-day action packed event kicks off at noon Central Time at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, with the “Lone Star Showdown,” Texas vs. Texas A&M, one of the oldest college rivalries in the country. Afterwards, the pros take the field with a roster that includes such superstars as four-time All-American and arguably the best attackman of his era, Joe Walters and 3-time All-American & NCAA Player of the Year, Kyle Harrison.

Before the pro lacrosse game, there will be a special presentation by LIVESTRONG Young Leadership Cancer Council Member and LXM PRO lacrosse player Brendan Shook, who will present the LIVESTRONG Manifesto to the Thompson Family, in memory and honor of Jim Thompson who recently passed away from cancer. Thompson was an active member of Westlake Youth Lacrosse, Westlake High School Lacrosse and the father of one of Austin’s top freshman lacrosse players, Tanner Thompson. LIVESTRONG will have a booth at the event so spectators can learn more about the work they do for cancer survivors worldwide and ways to get involved in the fight against cancer. All players and spectators will receive LIVESTRONG wristbands.

When the whistle blows and the pro game on the field ends, the real party begins on-stage with the foot-stomping beats of The Bright Light Social Hour–recently named Austin’s Best Indie Band at this year’s Austin Music Awards.

Next up, L.A.X’s heart-thumping blend of house, electro and R&B music blends to create a unique sound that has quickly captivated Austin’s music scene.

Carolina Liar headlines the festival, performing their smash hits “Show Me What I’m Looking For” and “It’s Not Over,” melodies that have earned them international exposure.

After a highly successful inaugural event in Orange County last November, LXM 512 (Austin, TX) is already creating significant of buzz, with expected celebrity guests including members of the cast of MTV’s “The Hills” and singer-songwriter Katie Voegele, from The WB’s hit show “One Tree Hill,” who will be singing the national anthem before the pro game.

About LXM PRO

LXM PRO was founded in early 2009 by former University of Maryland lacrosse players: Scott Hochstadt, Craig Hochstadt, Xander Ritz and Max Ritz along with Johns Hopkins standout Kyle Harrison. Scott Hochstadt, LXM PRO’s President, is a former three-time All-American who parlayed his Division I success into a pro career in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and Major League Lacrosse (MLL) before founding Adrenaline Apparel, Adrenaline Lacrosse, and the Starz Foundation, which have provided a vehicle to pioneer the growth of lacrosse at the youth level in California and beyond.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
