SAINT PAUL, MN – The National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) Minnesota Swarm have announced that the team has signed 2009 first round draft pick Zack Greer to a three-year contract. Greer, a 6-2 190 lbs. forward from Bryant University, was the third overall selection in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft. He finished his collegiate playing career as the all-time leading point (353p) and goal scorer (248g) in NCAA Division I history. The Swarm will be holding a media availability session with Greer and recently named U.S. Men’s National Lacrosse Team member and Swarm defenseman Joe Cinosky at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the Xcel Energy Center.

“We are excited to officially welcome Zack to the Swarm. Zack’s collegiate credentials and box experience in Canada gives us a legitimate chance at having an impact player,” said General Manager Marty O’Neill. “With the addition of Zack and the other new players we acquired this offseason, I feel that we have put together a highly competitive team for 2010.”

Greer, 23, will be one of several Swarm players that will call Minnesota “home” during the 2010 season. The native of Whitby, ON is currently one of 30 players competing for a final roster spot on the Canadian National Lacrosse Team that will compete in the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, England.

The NCAA’s all-time leading scorer spent his final year of eligibility with Bryant University in 2009 and led the team in scoring with 68 points (42g, 26a) and was a Second Team All-America selection. Prior to his time at Bryant, Greer spent four seasons at Duke University (2005-08) and was a two-time First Team All America selection. He led the nation in goals scored with 57 in 2005, 67 in 2007 and 65 in 2008 when he was the recipient of the Jack Turnbull Award, which is given to the top United States collegiate attackman.

Greer was also selected third overall this past May by the Long Island Lizards in the 2009 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Collegiate Draft. He appeared in five games this summer for the Lizards and finished with 14 points (12g, 2a).
