Rutgers Lacrosse Joins Forces with Habitat for Humanity

Plainfield, N.J. (December 3, 2012) – Members of the Rutgers University men’s and women’s lacrosse team joined together with Habitat for Humanity’s Plainfield Chapter on Saturday, Dec. 1 to assist with the construction of a five-room condo village on West Fourth Street in Plainfield, N.J.

The service project, which was spearheaded by former men’s lacrosse student-athlete and current Rutgers Leadership Academy intern Jonathan Lefferts, spanned seven hours. The women’s team took the first shift, with the men’s team working the second shift.

“I had a great experience giving back, said men’s lacrosse student-athlete Daniel Ingraldi. “We often forget the important things in life and with this amazing opportunity I was able to contribute to someone’s happiness by building them a house. To be able to be a part of a team that is able to do something like this through the school shows how great of an athletic program this school has.”

“Donating our time Saturday (with Habitat) was one of the most rewarding experiences we have had volunteering and I can’t wait to do it again,” echoed redshirt sophomore Hollie Dimuro.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
