Sacred Heart Lacrosse Announces “Battle Beards Against Cancer” Fundraiser For Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart men’s lacrosse team is raising money and collecting donations this week as part of its “Battle Beards Against Cancer” fundraiser benefitting the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The Pioneers are growing out their beards this week, leading up to the Northeast Classic on Sunday, Oct. 13. Donations can be made at the men’s lacrosse office inside the Pitt Center and can be given to any men’s lacrosse student-athlete on campus. Those wishing to donate with a check can make it out to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Donations can also be made www.northeastclassic.org/donate.

“Anything we can do to help others, we’re going to do it,” said head coach Jon Basti. “This is a fun way for our team to raise money and help out a worthwhile cause.”

Since its founding in 1947, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston has been committed to providing adults and children with cancer with the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow’s cures through cutting-edge research.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
