WINCHESTER – Three women’s lacrosse players recently returned from an experience of a lifetime as they spent 10 days ‘across the pond’ representing their country playing lacrosse in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Rising senior Sydney Anderson and rising juniors Ashley Cross and Samantha Sisson were among 13 women to play eight games against club teams from Scotland, Ireland and England.

The 13-woman team consisted of four players from NCAA Division II teams with the remaining nine coming from Division III.

The team had an ODAC flavor as in addition to the three SU players, Ashley Edwards and Courtney Kellogg from Randolph College played on the squad.

The team was led by RC head coach Alexis Wagner and her assistant with the WildCats, Susan Ketchem.

The American squad split the eight games of the tour, including four games at the Oxton LC Tournament in Oxton, England.

Sisson was the team’s leading scorer, tallying more than 20 goals, with Anderson getting seven points while playing on defense for the first time in her collegiate career.

Cross played every minute in the cage for the team.

“It was a great experience,” Anderson said. “The game is played differently over there, and so that was an adjustment.

“It was very interesting to also play with new players.”

The team also had some time to do some sight-seeing with trips to Edinburgh Castle and Glendalough as highlights of the trip.

“We really had fun with the downtime,” Anderson said. “We got to act like tourists and see some very interesting parts of the UK.

“It was an awesome experience.”
