SidelineSwap Sits Down with Lacrosse Playground

I’m always interested to learn about new lacrosse companies. Lacrosse players are very creative and resourceful. So, when I found out about one called SidelineSwap.com, I had to take action and educate myself, while also providing an assessment for you guys. Nevertheless, I recently sat down with the founder of SidelineSwap.

Lacrosse Playground: Why SidelineSwap? What’s your inspiration for creating a website like this?

SidelineSwap: We came up with the idea for SidelineSwap.com a few summers ago while we were trading shooting shirts from high school. We realized that everyone loves having unique and authentic gear, but there was no place to easily find it. So we began working on SidelineSwap.com, a website where you would be able to buy, sell, and trade gear in your locker. It would be designed for athletes, by athletes. Nearly two years later, we launched the site and it’s quickly becoming everything we hoped it would be.

LPG: Pump the brakes! Describe what a locker is for me.

SS: Every user has a locker where they can show off their gear. Listing gear is free and easy. We like to compare it to wearing your gear around town or at a tournament. People can just give you props by commenting on it, or, if they’re really into it, they can make you an offer. You have the option to accept or reject any offer, so you don’t need to commit to anything until it’s actually on the table.

LPG: Are you really the largest online collection of custom gear? How’d you do that?

SS: Because we have players from all over the country (and world) setting up lockers, SidelineSwap has quickly become THE BEST place to find custom apparel and equipment. From pro gear to college gear to club swag, SidelineSwap has it all. We’ve partnered with current MLL guys and other former college players, as well as club teams and companies, to make sure that Sideline is your one-stop shop for hard to find gear.

LPG: I have a lot of friends who love collecting the strangest stuff. I was always that kid who wanted the sweaty elbow pads from players after the NCAA Championship game. SidelineSwap, however, has a lot more than elbow pads.

SS: Did you watch Ryan Young and Adam Ghitelman play in the 2011 National Championship and wish you could get your hands on some of their gear? Well now you can. Young and Ghitelman, along with MLL All-Star Matt Gibson and others are members of Team SidelineSwap. You can check out their collection going back to high school. And if the price is right, you could be making saves or ripping rope in the same gloves they did.

LPG: I’m a hoarder and I need to start unloading not only my closet, but also my parents’ garage. Like this for instance. Do you see a lot of activity in this regard?

SS: When building SidelineSwap, we wanted to make it easier for guys who run club team to unload their extra apparel at the end of a tournament or season. There’s plenty of people who will buy custom club team gear, but they have no way to find it. Once a club team sets up a locker on Sideline, you can begin making some money back off the extra gear you’ve built up over the years.

LPG: I love it! What else can people expect from SidelineSwap?

SS: There’s a lot more coming, including private messaging and special sections for teams and companies, but for now we’re psyched we’ve finally made it possible for players to easily buy, sell, and trade custom gear online.

And, now you know the gist of SidelineSwap. Visit the website today and check it our for yourself!

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.

This site rocks I’ve been on it for a while and have made a bunch of trades. No shenanigans yet either, which is awesome.
