Siena Lacrosse Names 2012 Captains

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Entering his first season at the helm of the Siena Lacrosse program, head coach John Svec has identified the three young men he hopes will lead his team to great success both on and off the field this year. Seniors Chris D’Alberti, Tom Morr and Chris Roth have been tabbed as the tri-captains for the 2012 Siena Lacrosse team.

“As a staff we looked to the senior class to provide a great deal of leadership this fall both on and off the practice field and Chris, Tom and Chris did an exceptional job leading by example even before we began fall ball,” noted Svec. “Along with their fellow classmates, the experience, drive and dedication this group has shown set a solid foundation for this year’s team and more importantly the program as a whole moving forward.”

A native of Northport, N.Y., D’Alberti has tallied 49 points in his first three seasons with the Saints in which he has made 53 appearances including 17 starts at midfield. He is the team’s fifth leading returning scorer from a year ago when he totaled 25 points on 15 goals and 10 assists. Additionally, he ranked fourth on the team with 44 groundballs.

Morr was the MAAC’s First Team goalie last season after ranking fifth nationally in save percentage (59.4%) and eighth in saves (209). A native of Rockville Centre, N.Y., Morr also served as a team captain last season when he led the Saints to the program’s second MAAC Championship.

Roth earned MAAC First Team honors at midfield last season after ranking fifth in the conference with 43 points. The East Northport, N.Y. native finished third on the Saints last season in both goals (29) and man-up goals (six).

The captains will look to lead a Siena Lacrosse team which is coming off the program’s second MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament Appearance and first-ever national ranking in program history following a team-record 13 wins last season.
