Siena Women’s Lacrosse Release Schedule

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Siena Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach Andrea Cofrin has released her program’s 2013 schedule. The Saints are scheduled for 15 games this spring including six home dates at Siena Turf Field.

“We are excited to get the 2013 season underway,” said Cofrin. “We’ve put a lot of work into this offseason and are ready to see the results this spring. We are looking forward to opening with a strong non-conference schedule which will prepare our young team for a challenging MAAC slate.”

The Saints open their 2013 season on Tuesday, Feb. 19 with a 3 p.m. start at Bryant, before returning to the Capital Region for their first two home games of the year.

Siena hosts Detroit in the home opener on Friday, Feb. 22 at noon at Siena Turf Field before welcoming Vermont to Loudonville on Feb. 27.

The Saints’ matchup with the Catamounts will be the team’s final home game for 25 days as the program opens March with a season long five-game road trip. Siena and Wagner square off in the Third Annual Oyster Bay Classic Mar. 2 with four true road non-conference games to follow.

Road contests at Central Connecticut (Mar. 6), defending Northeast Conference Champion Monmouth (Mar. 9), St. Bonaventure (Mar. 16) and Binghamton (Mar. 20) conclude the Saints’ trip.

Siena ends non-conference action when they return home for arguably their most challenging matchup of the season. The Saints host a Stony Brook squad Mar. 24 which won 14 games a year ago and is ranked 18th in the ILWomen.com preseason rankings.

The six-game MAAC schedule begins Mar. 30 when the Saints continue their three-game homestand against Fairfield, before playing host to Marist (Apr. 6). The Saints’ game vs. the Stags will also serve as one of two doubleheaders with the men’s lacrosse team along with the team’s other MAAC home game against Niagara for Senior Day Apr. 27.

On the road, the Saints will face defending MAAC Champion Canisius (Apr. 10), Manhattan (Apr. 13) and Iona (Apr. 20) in conference contests.

The 2013 MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Championships will be hosted by Marist College May 3 and 5 at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Siena finished with a 6-11 overall record last spring including a 3-3 mark in MAAC action, qualifying for the conference championships for a third straight season. Full schedule.
