Stealth Partners with American Red Cross for Opening Night

The Washington Stealth and the American Red Cross are teaming up to raise money and awareness at the Stealth’s 2012 regular season opener on January 14 at the Comcast Arena at Everett. The event will be the first of four non-profit event nights to take place at Stealth home games during the 2012 season.

“The Stealth organization is very proud to be partnering with the American Red Cross,” said Stealth President David Takata. “It’s important for our fans and the community to understand that with cutbacks in government, the Red Cross plays an increasingly important role in our lives. Donating to the Red Cross helps to ensure the organization can be ready with emergency food, shelter, and other assistance. We are fortunate to be able to spread the word and raise funds for this vital community partner.”

The Stealth and Red Cross kick off their partnership on Wednesday, January 11th at Shawn O’Donnell’s American Grill and Irish Pub in Everett. Stealth players will be on hand to sign autographs along with members of the Bombshells and Bomber the Fox. Fans will also have the opportunity to win numerous Stealth prizes and experiences at the event, as well as help raise money and awareness for the Red Cross.

The Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross is also selling discounted group tickets to the Stealth’s home opener on January 14, with 25% of the proceeds going directly to the Red Cross. The ticket costs just $20 and also includes a special edition Stealth/Red Cross rally towel.

“Through this great partnership with the Washington Stealth and allowing us be a part of their opening night, we hope to raise funds and awareness for the life saving work we do right here in our community,” said Chuck Morrison, Executive Director of the American Red Cross in NW Washington.

“Every night in America, while most of us are sleeping, Red Cross volunteers are standing on the lawn of someone who just lost their home and everything they own in a fire. We give them a blanket to keep warm, a hot cup of coffee, a place to stay for the night, and a plan to get back on their feet.”

To help a neighbor in need, you can simply text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation today.

Along with text donations, the Red Cross will be accepting donations and distributing information about the organization throughout the game on January 14. The honorary ball drop will feature the recognition of two Red Cross volunteers, Sue Larson and Sally Odenborg, who have been active with the organization’s efforts throughout the country. Fans are encouraged to wear red to show their support for the Red Cross.
