The Fairfield Ludlowe High School Lacrosse team and the local lacrosse community hosted the 7th annual Sticks for Soldiers Thanksgiving Charity Lacrosse Tournament to raise money for severely wounded soldiers on Saturday November 24th at Fairfield Ludlowe High School. Over 700 high school athletes participated

The Sticks for Soldiers tournament ended up raising $64,000. They are currently accepting more donations through December 26th. The event hopes to raise $70,000 before the December 26th deadline.

At the ceremony, USMC Cpt. John Cimina gave an impassioned speech extolling the virtues of community, team, and family. He challenged the players to set the example, because, as he said, regardless of your personal struggle, there is a brother, sister, parent, or friend finding inspiration in your strength.

It was a well-done event that not only raised a good deal of money, but served its purpose in awakening young-athletes to the sacrifices made by those not much older than themselves. If you can help the event by raising awareness, it would be greatly appreciated. Visit http://www.sticksforsoldiers.org/ to make a contribution.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
