STX Launches Its 2nd Annual Internship Contest

Baltimore Sporting Goods Leader Opens Facebook Video Contest to Find its 2014 STXtreme Intern

Baltimore, MD – Baltimore-based STX, LLC, a global sporting goods leader, today launched its second annual STXtreme Internship contest. STX is now accepting video entries through Facebook until Monday, Oct. 7.

During the coveted internship, interns won’t just be fetching coffee and filing papers. The STXtreme Internship is focused on real sports marketing experience and exposure. The interns will participate in projects such as photo shoots, sales meetings and sporting events.

“Last year, we had some really creative video entries and we look forward to seeing how the candidates will step it up to prove they are equipped to perform in the Marketing arena just like our STX Athletes are equipped to perform on the field,” said STX Marketing Director Ed Saunders. “We have added a Facebook fan voting component to the intern contest this year that will truly gauge the applicants’ social networking skills.”

In addition to gaining hands on experience, last year’s two interns traveled up and down the east coast attending events such as the Disney Field Hockey Showcase in Orlando, FL and the NCAA Lacrosse Championships in Philadelphia, PA.

“I grew up with the STX brand so I was incredibly excited about the opportunity to work here,” said Kristin Henry, a 2013 STXtreme intern. “I got my hands dirty working directly with the marketing department at events like the Disney Showcase. The perseverance and determination I learned at STX is invaluable for my future career.”

Students do not have to be an athlete to apply, but they should have a love for the game and an interest in sports marketing. To be eligible, students must be:

· Enrolled in Junior or Senior year of a bachelor’s program at an accredited Maryland college or university during the 2014 spring semester

· A Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, or a related major

· Applicants should be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per week and be available from start of spring semester through June 6, 2014

· Able to provide their own transportation to STX headquarters in Baltimore, MD

· 18 years of age or older

Interested Maryland area college students should create a video, 60 seconds or less, explaining what makes them “Equipped to Perform” as the 2014 STXtreme Intern and upload to STX’s Facebook Contest Page. To complete the entry, applicants should e-mail a link to their video entry, along with a resume and a recent writing sample to [email protected].

The top finalists will be chosen to compete in the STXtreme Intern Showdown. The showdown will require finalists to get creative and showcase their marketing and networking skills with an apprentice-style challenge and sports competition. The final showdown event will take place in downtown Baltimore.
