STX Named Official Lacrosse Equipment Supplier of the NCAA

Baltimore, MD – December 7, 2012 – Baltimore-based STX, LLC, a global sporting goods leader, is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with the NCAA to become the official lacrosse equipment supplier of the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Championships. The exclusive contract is a three-year agreement with the potential of two additional years and is effective immediately.

Per the agreement, STX will provide products, services and additional support for the NCAA men’s and women’s lacrosse championships. STX’s participation will be integrated across many facets of the championship events including making available equipment such as balls and nets, product support for youth-related initiatives and involvement in media events and receptions. Additionally, STX will be working closely with the NCAA to help elevate awareness and promotion of the championship events over the course of the regular season and the weeks leading up to each championship.

“STX is thrilled to align with the NCAA in pursuing ongoing growth and success for what everyone knows is the crown jewel of lacrosse events,” said Ed Saunders, STX Director of Marketing. “We have always believed deeply in college lacrosse as the sport’s pinnacle. We are proud to stand behind that belief by supporting the NCAA in its efforts to provide student-athletes with the unique experience of participating in the college lacrosse championships.”

“STX’s longstanding and unmatched support in college lacrosse is a natural fit for the NCAA,” said Matt Wolfert, Director of Corporate Relationships. “We look forward to working with STX to provide the best possible experience for our student-athletes and fans of the championships alike for the 2013 season and beyond.”

STX is the only modern lacrosse equipment supplier that has been a part of every NCAA men’s tournament, since the inaugural event in 1970. In fact, every goal scored in the very first men’s championship, in which Cornell beat Maryland 12-6, was scored with an STX stick.
