VILLANOVA, PA ­– Rutgers, St. John’s, Syracuse and Villanova shared the BIG EAST men’s lacrosse regular season individual awards, as major award winners and all-conference teams were announced on Wednesday evening at the 2013 BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship banquet, held at the Philadelphia Marriott West. PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Orange senior defenseman Brian Megill (Clark, N.J.) was named the BIG EAST Preseason co-Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season in a vote by the league’s seven head men’s lacrosse coaches on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Megill shared the honor again with Notre Dame goalie John Kemp. In addition, Syracuse was picked to finish second in the BIG EAST in 2013 behind Notre Dame in the preseason coaches’ poll. PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The 2013 BIG EAST Lacrosse Championship sites have been announced by the league on Oct. 3. The BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship, in its second year, will return to the site of the inaugural tournament, Villanova University. The regular season for men’s college lacrosse winds down this weekend as the BIG EAST, Ivy League and America East hold their conference championships. Action begins on ESPNU with the semifinals of the first-ever BIG EAST Men’s Lacrosse Championship on Thursday, May 3, with No. 2 Notre Dame facing St. John’s at 4:30 p.m. and No. 19 Villanova hosting No. 18 Syracuse at 7 p.m. The BIG EAST Championship final will air Sunday, May 5, at noon, on ESPNU. PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The BIG EAST Conference selected senior goalie John Galloway of the men’s lacrosse team as Syracuse University’s male recipient of the 2010-11 American Eagle Outfitters BIG EAST Institutional Scholar-Athlete Award on Tuesday, Feb. 8. Galloway was one of 16 male honorees recognized by the conference, one from each member school. He will receive $2,000 toward graduate studies.
