New London, Conn. – Fresh off the announcement from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Division of Athletics that it will elevate the Men’s Lacrosse Program to varsity NCAA D3 status (effective with the 2014-15 academic year), Coast Guard Academy Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach Gary Weller announced that attackman Cadet 1/c Stu Carley (Houston, Texas/James E. Taylor), midfielder Cadet 2/c Patrick Dreiss (Wantagh, NY/Holy Trinity) and long stick midfielder Cadet 1/c Nick Fredericksen (Nashua, NH/Nashua South) were selected by the coaching staff and a vote by their teammates to serve as team captains for the 2014 season. NEW LONDON, Conn.–The U.S. Coast Guard Academy Division of Athletics announced today that it will elevate the men’s and women’s club lacrosse teams to varsity status, effective with the 2014-15 academic year. New London, Conn – Coast Guard Academy men’s lacrosse junior Steven Danseglio (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) finished with six points on six goals while senior goalie Cory Pray (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) finished with 12 saves as the 20th-ranked Bears (10-4, 3-1) posted a 20-4 first-round PCLL playoff victory over Central Connecticut State University (3-7, 2-2) Wednesday at Cadet Memorial Stadium. NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Coast Guard Academy Men’s Lacrosse Team will conduct its traditional goal flag remembrance ceremony at Cadet Memorial Field prior to the first home game against Bridgewater State University on Friday, 16 March at 7:00 PM. The ceremony is open to the public and serves to formally recognize the ultimate sacrifices made by Coast Guard Academy graduates. The ceremony will occur before the game and two commemorative flags will be attached to the goals. They will be displayed at every home game throughout the season. Read More…
