As you watch UNC gain speed this season you’ll notice most, if not all, of them wearing blue bracelets on their wrists. The rubber bracelets commemorate the life of Michael Piegare, the now deceased brother of current Tar Heel Kevin Piegare. Michael, a Cold Spring Harbor native, played lacrosse at Pace University in Pleasantville, New York, and passed away 15 months ago. Kevin and his family continue to keep the memory of Michael alive with the bracelets and a website in his honor. VIDEO HERE…
ESPNU recently aired a special on the recent rise in African-Americans not only playing lacrosse in general, but also excelling at the highest level of the game. Some of the interviews include Kyle Harrison (Hopkins), the Bratton twins (UVA) and Jovan Miller (Syracuse). View the video below.
Here are some photos of ESPNU’s feature shoot with Warrior at Disney. Matt Striebel, Geoff Snider, Nicky Polanco, Matt Danowski, Jesse Schwartzman, and Quint Kessenich are featured in the shoot. They got together to prepare for ESPNU’s promotion of their added lacrosse games to their schedule this Spring. More after the jump.

ESPN Regional Television, Inc., a subsidiary of ESPN, announced today the creation of the ESPNU Warrior Classic, a doubleheader that will be played Saturday, April 24, at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. The doubleheader will feature No. 17 Denver vs. Fairfield at 11 a.m. ET, followed by No. 18 Massachusetts vs. No. 13 Georgetown at 1:30 p.m. Both games will be televised live on ESPNU.
“We jumped at the opportunity to partner with ESPNU for the inaugural ESPNU Warrior Classic,” said Dave Morrow, President, Warrior. “ESPN’s commitment to lacrosse is making the sport accessible to more players and fans than ever, and this event is an extension of our shared passion for grassroots events and competition.
