ESPNU Warrior Classic Moving To Charlotte

The ESPNU Warrior Classic, a men’s college lacrosse doubleheader, has a new home at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., home of Major League Lacrosse’s Charlotte Hounds. The third annual event will be played Saturday, April 14, and will feature Rutgers vs. No. 7 Syracuse in the first game at 11 a.m. ET, followed by No. 11 Hofstra vs. No. 6 North Carolina at 1:30 p.m. Both games will be televised on ESPNU. ESPNU is the home of collegiate lacrosse. In 2011, the 24-hour college sports network will feature 31 regular-season matchups, 29 men’s games, two women’s games – as well eight NCAA Men’s Championship games. UMD vs Notre Dame, Technical Difficulties

If you watched the Quarterfinal match up between Maryland and Notre Dame on Saturday then you, too, are probably disappointed with ESPNU's production of the game. Repeatedly, throughout the game, ESPNU either went to a Black screen or a stationary viewing of the stats. When we, the fans, were actually able to view the game it was from a terrible angle with bad picture which made the game look like it was pulled from the ESPN Classics archives. One thing that the poor work of ESPNU helped add was suspense. Not being able to see what was going on made the pace of an otherwise dull game more exhilarating. View game photos...

North Carolina Stands Tall

As you watch UNC gain speed this season you'll notice most, if not all, of them wearing blue bracelets on their wrists. The rubber bracelets commemorate the life of Michael Piegare, the now deceased brother of current Tar Heel Kevin Piegare. Michael, a Cold Spring Harbor native, played lacrosse at Pace University in Pleasantville, New York, and passed away 15 months ago. Kevin and his family continue to keep the memory of Michael alive with the bracelets and a website in his honor. VIDEO HERE...

ESPNU Warrior Classic, New Lacrosse Event, to Launch in 2010

ESPN Regional Television, Inc., a subsidiary of ESPN, announced today the creation of the ESPNU Warrior Classic, a doubleheader that will be played Saturday, April 24, at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. The doubleheader will feature No. 17 Denver vs. Fairfield at 11 a.m. ET, followed by No. 18 Massachusetts vs. No. 13 Georgetown at 1:30 p.m. Both games will be televised live on ESPNU. “We jumped at the opportunity to partner with ESPNU for the inaugural ESPNU Warrior Classic,” said Dave Morrow, President, Warrior. “ESPN’s commitment to lacrosse is making the sport accessible to more players and fans than ever, and this event is an extension of our shared passion for grassroots events and competition.
