University of Tampa’s Griffo Scores Four To Defeat Florida Tech

LAKELAND, Fla - Greg Griffo scored four goals, including the go ahead goal, as the University of Tampa men's lacrosse team defeated Florida Tech 11-7 Wednesday night at Pepin Stadium. With the win the Spartans improve to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the Deep South Conference, while the Panthers fall to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play. The Spartans struck first as Trevor Calleja won the opening faceoff. McAleavey Introduces Florida Tech’s First Lacrosse Team

MELBOURNE, Fla. (Men’s Lacrosse) – Over 20 student-athletes from nine states make up Florida Tech’s first lacrosse team, unveiled by head coach Ryan McAleavey on Friday. As expected of a first-year program, much of the team is devised of freshmen. In fact, junior goalie Mason Cook (Hollywood, Md./Wingate) and junior midfielder Matt Durand (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Suffolk CC) are the only two Panthers listed as a sophomore or higher on the roster.
