Hempstead, NY - On Sunday, September 30, 2012 over 11 collegiate women's lacrosse teams from Long Island, NY and the surrounding areas gathered to remember former Hofstra athlete and HEADstrong Founder Nicholas Colleluori by taking part in the 4th Annual Women's Nick Colleluori Classic at Hofstra University. FOLSOM, Pa. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team was defeated 16-8 by the Marist Red Foxes and 19-10 by the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers on Saturday (Oct. 6) in the sixth annual Nick Colleluori Classic at Ridley High School. The classic, which benefits the HEADStrong Foundation to combat blood cancer, is held in memory of the late Nick Colleluori. With on-field results normally being of the utmost importance, the main aspect of the Colleluori Classic is the tournament's mission to benefit the HEADstrong Foundation. Hempstead, NY - This Sunday, September 30, 2012 over 11 collegiate women’s lacrosse programs will descend upon Hofstra University’s James M. Shuart Stadium to be part of the 4th Annual Women’s Nicholas Colleluori Classic. This special fundraising event has seen over $100,000 for the HEADstrong Foundation since its inception in 2008 and now under the direction of Hofstra Women's Coach Shannon Smith, plans to expand the event are already underway for the 2013 fall season. On August 15, 2008 Caroline (Care) Cranston, at 24 years old, was diagnosed with leukemia. In high school, Care played lacrosse for West Chester Henderson and continued her lacrosse career at Duquesne University. Holmes, PA - When the Colleluori family lost their son and brother Nicholas in 2006 to a battle with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma they did not know how they would carry on.
