Philippines Lacrosse Travels to Costa Rica

By Lacrosse Playground | December 19, 2012 |
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be able to represent the country I was born in, never mind on the lacrosse field. Growing up watching Team USA & Canada, it was always a dream of mine. I remember thinking maybe one day there will be a Philippines National Team. After playing for more than 12 years in the northeastern US and traveling up and down the East Coast, I never once saw another Filipino lacrosse player. My dream didn’t appear to even be a possibility. Read More...

Glasgow Clydesiders were founded in the Summer of 2012 by Myles Bonnar and Hal Jones who decided to create the foundation for the possible establishment of a Scottish Box Lacrosse League. The group started with around 20 members and 10-12 players attending the weekly Wednesday game. Since then, the membership figures have risen to 50 + after the inclusion of players from field lacrosse clubs such as Stirling University, Edinburgh City, Glasgow University and Glasgow City. This was just brought to our attention. Lax in Scotland! This is what it's all about. Guys around the world are working day-and-night to make our sport better. We give props to the Scots for exploring opportunities. The Glasgow City team actually supplies free jerseys to beginners and have trained coaches at all levels, starting at the grassroots level. They created this video in an effort to spread the growth of the game in their country. Read More...

2012 Scotland U19 Lacrosse Blog From Turku, Finland

By Lacrosse Playground | July 19, 2012 |
The schedule became clear to us today. Tomorrow we must beat the Dutch for the chance to play the Welsh once more, if we win both of these games we get 9th place. If we lose to the Dutch we play the Koreans, a fight for 11th place. This made our goal very clear - we must beat a team we have beaten to play a team who have beaten us, making both games perhaps harder mentally thanks to the history. Read More...

Today, was all about lifting team morale after yesterday's loss against the Welsh. With the team deflated and most of our minds clearly in the wrong place, we were taken out for an unconventional training session. Rather than running drills, we ran six-on-six for 1 or 2 hours, hacking pieces out of each other and generally letting some steam off - none of us were ready to think about walk-throughs. The weather helped, with the sun hot enough to allow just pinnies. We reminded ourselves that although we could now only finish 9th, if we won our next game we could face the Welsh again, motivation enough to get everyone's head back where it should be. I personally found ice cream, Subway, and muffins helped me get over the loss. Read More...

With yesterday's victory we were granted a bit longer in bed before pre-game walk throughs and training. The weather was far more miserable than the day before, and remained that way the entire day, perhaps a sign of things to come. Read More...

Despite having played a game the day before, it was another early start to get more walk throughs in before grabbing lunch. Having ate stacks of bread and meat sauce we lounged outside waiting for training to start. Korea v Holland had begun so we did our best to support the Koreans - Holland being our opponent for tomorrow. It was a worthwhile watch, checking out both their weaker and stronger players to shape our training later that day. Read More...
