US Lacrosse Adopts Athlete Safety Standard

BALTIMORE, July 1, 2013 – The US Lacrosse Board of Directors has approved a written Standard for Athlete Safety and Protection that officially defines the national governing body’s position on safeguarding the well-being of minor athletes. The 14-page document outlines both prohibited and prescribed conducts and behaviors for its adult members who interact with youth athletes in various leadership capacities, including in the roles of coach, official, and team administrator or volunteer. US Lacrosse Endorses Concussion Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 14, 2013 – US Lacrosse is among the national sports organizations publicly endorsing the Youth Sports Concussion Act, a new bill that is expected to be introduced shortly in the U.S. Senate. The proposed congressional legislation is aimed at reducing youth sports concussions by empowering both the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Federal Trade Commission to take stronger actions.
