“Responsible to the element, Accountable to the mission.” This quote is the 2014 Colgate Lacrosse mantra and is printed on the back of every team members practice shirt. Coach Murphy took this quote from Toughness by Jay Bilas; our team's mandatory summer reading. Read More...

The weekend we had preparing for all season was upon us, The Patriot League Tournament. As Coach Murphy said throughout the week, it’s a new season, everyone was starting 0-0. Despite what we would consider a sub par Patriot League regular season at 3-3, we had a chance to redeem ourselves over the weekend. There could be no better way to start our championship run than against our rivals the Lehigh Mountainhawks. Read More...

Last weekend was a special one for the fourteen members of our senior class, as we were all honored for Senior Day versus Lafayette. Lafayette, as many of you know, is our rival, and we were looking to go 4-0 against them in our careers. A goal for the lacrosse team, as well as the Lehigh Athletics Department in general, is to “Always defeat Lafayette.” We knew that although they didn’t have the best record, they were a very talented team and we would have to bring our “A” game to do so. Last Friday night was a huge win. With the Regular Season Championship on the line, we were able to pull out the win over a very talented Bucknell team. As “Clarity” was bumping in the locker room after the win, and everyone was jumping up and down, it finally hit me; we would be hosting the Patriot League Tournament for the first time in school history. This is one of many of the firsts that we have accomplished since I have been here, and this was quite the turn around from my freshman year when we didn’t even qualify for the Patriot League Tournament. 2013 Boston University Lacrosse Player Blog: Pray for Boston

By Lacrosse Playground | April 18, 2013 |
What a week it has been in Boston. It is hard to begin with a fun, lighthearted recap of our incredible senior game after such terrible, senseless acts that have just taken place at the Boston marathon. NBC Sports Network (@NBCSN) tweeted one of the best interpretations of fearless acts- “Reports of Marathon Runners that crossed finish line and continued to run to Mass General Hosptial to give blood to victims #prayforboston.” Read More...

By Lacrosse Playground | April 15, 2013 |
The loss to our rivals was a tough one, but the close decision gave us the confidence that we could beat anyone in our league. Next up would be a Saturday matchup with the Lafayette Leopards. A win would secure a birth into The Patriot League tournament, allowing us to compete for our season’s goal of winning a Patriot League Championship. Saturday’s matchup would give our team an opportunity to get back in the win column, and build momentum towards our important end of season games. Read More...

Hey bloggers! It’s been about a week since our last post and we have 3 games to catch up on. When we last talked we had Harvard next on the docket. Our cross-river rival spanked us two years ago, and although last year we showed a little improvement with an 11-9 loss, we had some redeeming to do. This year our game was the Friday before Easter, under-the-lights, and also our Breast Cancer Awareness game. Read More...

Practice wrapped up on a great note last Friday and as Coach Cassese says, “the hay was in the barn.” Navy was coming to town and we knew we were in for a dogfight, which is always the case with a league school let alone one of the academies. A huge emphasis all week was on the fast start that Navy has been able to conjure up all season, as they were crushing their opponents in the first quarter. Read More...

Wow, it’s been a while. When we last left off, I was on the plane ride home from Denver, which at this point seems like an eternity ago. When we first got home all the dorms were locked because BU was still technically on Spring Break; luckily, my building stays open during breaks and holidays so I could go home to my own bed. Our freshmen were not so lucky and four of them came home with me to our suite. Read More...

Coming off our huge win over Penn State, our squad felt like we were firing on all cylinders. The offense was starting to get very comfortable together and the defense was really starting to step up. We felt like we had corrected our early season woes and were back on the right track. We returned to an empty campus as everyone else went to Punta Cana or some other tropical place like that. Besides just going there, many of Lehigh’s students felt it necessary to post all of their pictures on every social media outlet possible. Read More...

If I had to describe lacrosse to someone I would say that it is the sports equivalent of the Harlem Shake. When you first watch it, you are sitting there confused as to what is happening until the beat drops and everything goes insane. You then proceed to watch forty-five different YouTube videos on it, and with each video you get more and more stoked. Read More...
