Colgate Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog: Better Ingredients, Better Pizza

By Lacrosse Playground | March 13, 2012 |
Right after we changed out of our wet clothes, we got into our jackets and ties for the bus ride to Worcester, MA. The movie chosen for the bus was The Departed, which starts with the song, “I’m Shipping Up to Boston.” Another fun fact about it is that it unofficially stars former team member Frank Coughlin as cop/not cop William Costigan. Then, upon arriving at our hotel, we watched film and had some Papa John’s pizza ordered in. Read More...

Sweet sweet sweet lax. Lacrosse is the best sport on this planet on so many levels. It’s like that really hip song Levels by Avicii in that it just goes from one epic level to the next. First off, it’s got the coolest bros, sickest equipment, and the ladies love it. It’s got the open field style of soccer, the hard hits of football, and the offensive and defensive strategies of basketball. It’s no wonder why the sport is growing exponentially huge. Read More...

Detroit Mercy Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog: No One Has Forgotten

By Lacrosse Playground | March 9, 2012 |
Overcoming adversity has been one of our best attributes as a team and we continue to work our hardest. We’ve been struggling on both sides of the ball, but every week we work on the issue necessary for winning the next week. Come conference play, we will be more than ready for an exciting road back to the MAAC Tournament. Read More...

Colgate Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog, We Politely Passed on the Offer

By Lacrosse Playground | March 6, 2012 |
You wouldn’t know the mood in the locker room just five minutes prior by watching the start of practice. Everyone was loud and excited to be out on the field. Tim Cashman, our lunch pail winner of the week, had another great practice alongside Pat Shanley. We focused on our system and our game throughout practice. Read More...

Fairfield Men’s Lacrosse Player Blog, Hofstra…INTENSE

By Lacrosse Playground | March 1, 2012 |
A good amount of the guys on the team are from Long Island (including myself) so it was definitely one we had circled on the schedule. We started off hot, but Hofstra kept coming and before you knew it, it was 9-9 at the end of regulation. OT felt like forever (#goalieproblems) with both teams getting chances, especially after I threw away a pass right to one of their attackmen. If they came down and scored on that I might have hung up the jock strap and retired on the spot. Read More...

Texas Men’s Lacrosse Player Blog, DOGFIGHT

By Lacrosse Playground | February 28, 2012 |
Amigos, glad to send out the first of many blog posts from the University of Texas Division 1 (Club) Lacrosse team! We just had a huge weekend. Between having the biggest win in the team's history, beating #2 ranked Arizona State in a straight up DOGFIGHT 4-3 in New Orleans for the Allstate Sugar Bowl Lacrosse game, being guaranteed an invitation back for next year, and having one hell of a time in the hours following the win, we could not have asked for anything better. Following a strong performance from the team against Vermont, we came into the locker room on Monday ready to work. Kevin Gordon had just been awarded Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, the coaches announced that John Donnally and Rob Grabher were our players of the game in the win, and Aaron Darr was recognized with the lunch pail for his great job in the prior week of practice. Lehigh Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog, Ring Chasers

By Lacrosse Playground | February 10, 2012 |
Ring Chasers – the two words that sum up the 2012 Lehigh lacrosse team in a nutshell (for all you Meek Mill fans out there, yes, that’s a reference to “Dream Chasers”). Our mission this year is simple – to win the Patriot League championship. Anything short of that would be an absolute failure in the eyes of the many people involved in this program, especially the guys that strap up every day and go to work on the field. This preseason has been all about taking care of the little things. The hope is that the little things will take care of the big ones come April 29th. Read More...

Colgate Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog, Beat Pancreatic Cancer

By Lacrosse Playground | February 8, 2012 |
As we walked into the locker room Friday after classes, we all had a new shirt awaiting us. It was a purple Colgate Lacrosse shirt in honor of a women’s lacrosse player’s mom, Mandy O’Sullivan, who is battling pancreatic cancer. On the back of the shirts it says, “Know It. Fight It. Beat It.” We wore these shirts out to the field and took a picture with the women’s lacrosse team prior to playing. Read More...
