ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's lacrosse head coach John Paul has signed 18 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to comprise the program's inaugural recruiting class for 2012-13. Two players rank among ESPN Rise's Top 100, while two more were rated as Top 25 players within ESPN Rise's positional ratings. ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team split a pair of scrimmages on Sunday (Oct. 2), falling to Providence, 11-10, in overtime before blowing out Concordia (Wis.), 16-3, at Michigan Stadium. Facing Providence in its opening contest as a varsity program, Michigan overcame a three-goal deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime. At one time, lacrosse was a mystery sport to me, as was rugby and it still might be a mystery sport to the majority of Americans. I had heard of it before, but never seen a match or anything really relating to the sport. My high school didn't have a lacrosse team so I wasn't introduced to the sport then either. It wasn't until my younger cousin entered an all-boys' private high school when I was 22 that I learned all about the beauties of lacrosse.
