2013 Lehigh Lacrosse Player Blog: Finding Our Identity

By Lacrosse Playground | March 25, 2013 |
Coming off our huge win over Penn State, our squad felt like we were firing on all cylinders. The offense was starting to get very comfortable together and the defense was really starting to step up. We felt like we had corrected our early season woes and were back on the right track. We returned to an empty campus as everyone else went to Punta Cana or some other tropical place like that. Besides just going there, many of Lehigh’s students felt it necessary to post all of their pictures on every social media outlet possible. Read More...

2013 Colgate Lacrosse Player Blog: Navy Week at The Big Crab Cake

By Lacrosse Playground | March 25, 2013 |
After the win over Michigan at Citi Field in front of many of our friends, family, and alumni, we were forced turn our attention to a Saturday showdown against The Naval Academy at M&T Bank Stadium as part of the Konica Minolta Faceoff Classic. Aside from the fact that Navy is a Patriot League opponent, which puts great importance on the game, the Midshipmen handed us our only regular season Patriot League loss last season, and pay back was in order. After getting back in the win column against Holy Cross on Saturday, Sunday marked the beginning of our spring break from classes. The week gave us the opportunity to focus solely on lacrosse and get closer as a team. Also can’t forget the week gave us the opportunity to soak in the rays, as traditionally we have received good weather with the campus all to ourselves over spring break. Most importantly we had two games to focus on over the break, one at home against Binghamton and a highly anticipated affair with the Michigan Wolverines at Citi Field. Read More...

Lehigh Lacrosse Wins Patriot League Opener at Army, 10-6

By Lacrosse Playground | March 18, 2013 |
WEST POINT, N.Y. - Senior Brian Hess paced the offense with his second-career hat trick while sophomore Matt Poillon made 12 saves between the pipes as the #15/16 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team topped Army 10-6 in its league opener Saturday. Five Mountain Hawks (5-3, 1-0 Patriot League) finished with double-figure points, and senior Ryan Snyder was stellar at the faceoff X, to help Lehigh get off to an early lead which it wouldn’t relinquish. 2013 Lehigh Lacrosse Player Blog: Harry Lawrence Guest Writes

By Lacrosse Playground | March 15, 2013 |
My choice was none other than Harry “The Stick Doctor” Lawrence, who is one of the lone English majors on the team (AKA he was my only choice). He agreed to proofread every one of my blogs and add input as long as he got one guest blog during the year, so here it goes. Shout out to my boy Harry L on his debut… Read More...

2013 Colgate Lacrosse Player Blog: Top Ten Showdown in Ithaca

By Lacrosse Playground | March 4, 2013 |
The usual suspects such as Peter Baum and Ryan Walsh were interviewed before practice, but I guess my words of wisdom from the blog have made waves, as #19 got the chance to speak in front of the cameras. The fame was short lived as we had to reshift our focus on finishing off a solid week of practice. Friday we finished the workweek with our normal pregame practice, capped by #15 breaking down the team, following chants of “Tewey” from his teammates. Read More...

I originally had written a two page analysis of what went wrong this weekend, but realized that if we want to win, we need to stop making excuses for ourselves and just let it all hang out. If you have been on any lacrosse website in the past two weeks, you know that February is when teams start to find their identity. So much hype was surrounding our matchup versus Denver asking, “Can Lehigh keep their spot among the game’s elites,” “Do they have what it takes to remain unbeaten?” Read More...

2013 Colgate Lacrosse Player Blog: Keeping the Train Rolling

By Lacrosse Playground | February 25, 2013 |
Wakeup calls were at 9 o’clock with a 9:30 breakfast before the 1 P.M. game. Scouting repots were handed in and we loaded the bus en route to the Dartmouth campus. After situating ourselves in the small visitor’s team locker room we geared up and got ready for the game. As I have been alluding to throughout the blog, once we came out for our second and final warm up the snow began to fall. It seemed to pick up as the game progressed, lightening up a little towards the end of the game. Here it was, same opponent, same weather conditions, and a chance for us to prove that we are the better team. Read More...

Last Thursday was a huge day for a couple of reasons: Villanova was looming and it was Valentine’s Day. Let’s start with Valentine’s Day. There were a couple highlights for the Lehigh lacrosse team, as Kyle Stiefel set the record for most social media posts in a day regarding his girlfriend. Alan Henderson was Valentineless on Thursday, but he made up for that with his performance with the ladies on Saturday. Fortunately for myself, Alex, my high school sweetheart, was my valentine. All my buddies call her “the one that got away,” but I am working hard to make sure that is not the case. Read More...

2013 Colgate Lacrosse Player Blog: Unfinished Business in Burlington

By Lacrosse Playground | February 19, 2013 |
After the Sunday victory over Bryant, we were fortunate (or NCAA mandated) to receive a day off on Monday from lacrosse activities. The break gave some players a chance to rest and recoup after the tough overtime victory, while other guys used the time to lift and get in extra skill work. The day off was short lived as an 11:30 film session came quickly on Tuesday. Read More...

Colgate Lacrosse 2013 Player Blog: Bryant for #1

By Lacrosse Playground | February 12, 2013 |
With poor road conditions following the storm, the trip to Bryant was a long one as it spanned a little under 6 hours. We continued back-to-back solid movie performances, with the playing of Ted and The Bourne Legacy. Some of the older guys were keeping entertained by playing Pokémon in the back of the bus, but for their sake I will keep those names confidential. Read More...

2013 Lehigh Men’s Lacrosse Player Blog: We Got a Ring But We Still Ring Chasing

By Lacrosse Playground | February 7, 2013 |
As all of the boys voyaged back to Lehigh on Friday, January 11th, there was only one goal on our minds: win the 2013 National Championship. Looking back at a stellar 2012 campaign, we accomplished many firsts in school history. It was an unbelievable opportunity to be a part of that Mountain Hawks team, as the flywheel got rolling like I could have never imagined. However, with a new team, new faces and the loss of an unbelievable senior class, our squad quickly realized the monumental task ahead of us. Read More...
