Colgate Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog: We Made History

By Lacrosse Playground | May 22, 2012 |
Obviously a team never wants their season to end on a loss, but when looking back...what a ride. At the end of last season, the senior class knew we’d have a talented squad to lead this year, and understood how strong leadership combined with a cohesive group make for a great team. It would be our job to do just that. With about a month left in summer, the news was announced that Coach Murphy was hired as our new coach. He made sure to call every player, and discuss the coming year. When talking to each senior, Coach Murphy made clear his main goal for his inaugural season: make it the senior’s best one yet. Colgate Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog: Go to the Final Four

By Lacrosse Playground | May 17, 2012 |
Now standing in our way is a very strong Duke team. They are solid in every facet of the game, but so are we. The trust and belief in one another on this team rivals any, and we plan to work as hard as ever for this game. It will not be easy, but we understand that. So following the graduation of our senior class in our hotel Saturday night (yes, we’re doing that), the opening face-off will be sometime around 2:30 on Sunday at PPL Park. It will come down to the team that takes care of the little things best, and the team that executes at the highest level. We aim to be that team and are working to make Sunday the best day ever. Lehigh Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog: ‘Bring on the Terps’

By Lacrosse Playground | May 11, 2012 |
The privilege of playing lacrosse together still at this point in May is also special in its own right, but again by no means any source of complacency. A new opponent, a new opportunity, and a plethora of new naysayers are on the horizon. As has been the case since the days of my recruitment to Lehigh, though, the more that people predict us to lose, the more motivated (and more likely) we are to win. Bring on the Terps, bring on the NCAA Tournament, bring on the doubt…bring on whatever and I’m confident that it will only make this Lehigh lacrosse family stronger in the end. Read More...

Colgate Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog: The Terps Are Coming

By Lacrosse Playground | May 4, 2012 |
The Terps are coming to town on Saturday. It’s our senior day, the school’s springcoming, and the weather is supposed to cooperate. What better way could we as seniors ask to end our home careers other than beating Maryland at home and setting ourselves up for an at-large bid in the NCAA tournament. Of course we know it’s going to be a tough game coming at the end of the last week of classes, but who cares? Come Saturday the only thing that will matter is that all 47 guys on the roster go out to Andy Kerr and leave it all on the field. I can think of no better way to end my career here at Colgate than with this group of guys going up against an ACC powerhouse. Read More...

Colgate Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog: Who Needs Avicii When We Get to See Baumvicii

By Lacrosse Playground | April 25, 2012 |
Going into the fourth quarter it was tied 6-6. Coach’s message to us in the huddle was, “win this minute, then the next one, and the one after that until there are zeros on the clock!” Because of Rob Grabher’s performance at the X during the second and third quarters, Bucknell came out with three poles on the face-offs and it turned into a hard-fought battle each time.
