Tampa Earns IWLCA Academic Award in Inaugural Season

GRAND LAKE, Colo. - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has recognized the University of Tampa as one of its Honor Squads for the 2014 season. UT is one of 45 schools earning IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Squad honors for the 2014 season. Every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors. Read More...

WINTER PARK, Fla. - On Tuesday, the Sunshine State Conference announced its 2014 Inaugural All-SSC Men's Lacrosse Team. Tampa's Conor Whipple was selected Player of the Year and Jake Rooney was named Co-Newcomer of the Year. Florida Southern's Grant VanOverbeke was also named Co-Newcomer of the Year. Head coach Rory Whipple has led the No. 6 University of Tampa men's lacrosse team to the Sunshine State Conference regular season championship, earning the top seed in the SSC tournament. WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference will grow to 18 NCAA Division II sponsored sports with the addition of women's lacrosse beginning the spring of 2015. The conference is currently sponsoring its first season of men's lacrosse. League bylaws require that half of the conference's member institutions offer a particular sport before it may become a conference-sponsored sport. Read More...

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa has announced the addition of Johns Hopkins attacker Mike Morris and Hofstra attacker Jake Rooney to it men's lacrosse program. Johns Hopkins attackman Mike Morris and Hofstra attackman Jake Rooney have decided to transfer and continue their playing careers at the University of Tampa, with both enrolled at UT and eligible for competition. TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team scored nine straight goals during the second and third periods en route to a 17-7 win over Coker Saturday afternoon at Pepin Stadium. With the win Tampa improves to 3-2 on the season, while the Cobras fall to 1-4. Coker struck first as Keith LaClair scored an unassisted goal in transition to give the Cobras a 1-0 lead. Tampa Spartans comeback falls short against Lions

SAINT LEO, Fla - The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team overcame a five goal deficit but it wasn't enough as they fell to Saint Leo 8-7 in overtime Saturday night at University Field. With this win the Lions improve to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Deep South Conference, while the Spartans fall to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
