The first weekend of May in Texas usually means a few things- the weather generally starts to get really hot, there are senior proms going on, but one thing is guaranteed…the four best lacrosse teams in the state of Texas will meet up to determine a champion. This year's bracket promises to be a good one as there has arguably never been so much parity between the four teams that will be competing for the ultimate prize. Read More...

Highland Park Upsets Episcopal School of Dallas in OT

By Lacrosse Playground | April 27, 2012 |
For the second time in 2012, Highland Park traveled north to the Episcopal School of Dallas. Also for the second time in 2012, the Scots were unable to hold a fourth quarter lead. The first meeting ended 11-10 in favor of the Eagles. This time, however, in a must-win game, the Highland Park defense was able to force overtime with the score tied at seven. Once they did, one offensive possession was all the Scots needed to secure a playoff spot in the hunt for the State Championship while simultaneously ending ESD’s season. Read More...

Late Surge Helps Jesuit Overcome St. Mark’s, 8-4

By Lacrosse Playground | April 20, 2012 |
Two things came to an end Thursday night: St. Mark’s bid for a perfect in-state record in 2012, and Jesuit coach Chris Surran’s career winless streak against coach Hayward Lee’s Lions. One thing that remains alive and well, however, is the potential for a playoff rematch between the North District’s two strongest teams. A bounce shot is unpredictable, especially on grass, and also gives the goalie a few extra fractions of a second to stop the ball. Shoot it where the goalie ain’t. Read More...

Texas Heat Lacrosse High School Power Rankings

By Lacrosse Playground | April 10, 2012 |
April 9, 2012 - With a quiet week of games due to Easter weekend we didn't see a big shake up in the Power Rankings this week. In Division I, Highland Park and Westwood return to the top 10, while Dallas Jesuit and St. Mark's still have a firm hold on the top two spots in the state. Read More...

Texas Heat Lacrosse’s Week 7 DI High School Power Rankings

By Lacrosse Playground | April 5, 2012 |
Dallas Jesuit held strong at the top and we gave a big bump to Westlake this week after their 11-8 win over Houston Christian. Leading 9-2 at halftime, Westlake looks like they've put the pieces together and are going into the end of the season with a lot of momentum. Highland Park may very well deserve a spot in the top 10, but we're waiting a bigger win and more than just some close losses to elite teams before throwing them back in the mix. Read More...
