BALTIMORE - Justin Ward did not let driving rain and wind gusts of 40 miles per hour both his game on Tuesday night as the junior scored seven goals and had three assists in Loyola University Maryland's 21-9 victory over visiting UMBC at Ridley Athletic Complex. Ward's seven goals are the most by a Loyola player since Tim Goettelmann tallied that number against the University of Notre Dame in an NCAA First Round game that the Greyhounds lost, 15-13, on May 15, 2000. Leading up to the big showdown, you would be hard-pressed to find an individual in either party that is more anxious for the matchup between the Denver Outlaws and Chesapeake Bayhawks than Brendan Mundorf. As the week dwindles down his nerves have gotten significantly more frantic. The Outlaws standout attacker has some strong ties to the Bayhawks including his former head coach and general manager Brian Reese who has taken over GM duties with the Bayhawks. University of Hartford Lacrosse Unanimously Chosen to Win America East Championship (Video)

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Coming off a season in which it won its first-ever America East Championship, University of Hartford is the unanimous preseason choice of the league’s men’s lacrosse coaches to claim the league title again in 2012, it was announced by the league office Thursday afternoon. The Hawks, which posted as many wins last season (11) as it had in its previous five years combined, received all five possible first-place votes (coaches could not vote for their own team) and the maximum total of 25 points. UMBC Men’s Lacrosse Announces 2012 Schedule

Baltimore, Md - UMBC head men’s lacrosse coach Don Zimmerman today announced the Retrievers’ 2012 schedule which features seven home contests in a 12-game slate. The Retrievers leave the state only once before an April 7 date at America East foe Vermont. UMBC opens the campaign on Sat., Feb. 18 when they entertain Robert Morris at 1:00 p.m. It will be the first meeting ever between the Retrievers and the Colonials. Read More...
